"Women dominate Brit awards"

Gosh, it's like last year never happened...

after the merging of the best British male and female categories....

Oh so, that's been admitted now?

Following criticism, Brits organisers have expanded the artist of the year category from five to 10 slots this year

It's a good write up but it's amusing that the LGBTQ etc etc is absent and a focus on male and female categories, especially as "women dominate"

And well done Raye!

"Overall, 55% of the nominations feature women, either as solo acts or part of an all-female group. The figure rises to 57% if mixed-gender groups are included.
Saxophonist YolanDa Brown, chair of music industry body the BPI, said it was "wonderful to see the representation in the nominees".

"The [artist of the year] category being expanded helps to showcase the music we've had this year, but it has been a great year for women as well," she said.

"It was important for us to listen to our critical friends, and learn, and I think you'll see that's been reflected this year.

But we need to keep listening and learning and make sure it doesn't happen again."

If it is so bloody important women are represented then why the fuck did you merge them in the first place! Twats

Universal bullshit translator returns: "shit! shit! Steer the other way! Quiiiiiick!"

55% isn't 'dominating', unless they think women having an equal showing is too much.

SweetBirdsong · 24/01/2024 18:53

It's all pissing me right off now. No more female singers, just SINGERS. Hmm

See also ACTORS. Everyone is an ACTOR. No more actresses! Proper getting on my nerves now!

nb; I still say actress, and will never call a woman an ACTOR.

Even yesterday on The Chase, Bradley asked a question, which MALE actor played the headmistress in St Trinians in 2007? So that's a good example of why this wanky shite doesn't work. Actor = MALE. Actress = FEMALE.

FFS. Hmm

Good spot.

Clearly desperately trying to spin things to clear up last year's mess

I suppose as we are 52% of the population it's basically representative

OP posts:

The figure rises to 57% if mixed-gender groups are included.

What does this mean?

I feel we need a stats analysis 🤔

Not to spoil the mood but is this just a swing in the other direction?

Removed the women's category last year and had 0 female nominations for artist of the year, received backlash and now they swung the other way?

WarriorN · 25/01/2024 12:48

It is yes, and thank god. But as ppl say, dominate isn't exactly the right word and none if it should have happened in the first place.

Thank god not a sniff of "inclusion" or "lgbtq."

Gender could be anything
