Another day, another drive-by scolding of JKR for having a sense of humour:

How vile. You think this is all just a joke.
You, a straight woman, intentionally fanning the flames of an anti-LGBTQIA+ agenda.
This is what history will remember you for, Joanne. You have my pity.

Leaving aside the fact they’re assuming her sexuality because she’s married to a man & the big fat lie about what she’s doing…

How is it so many people apparently have feck-all clue how History works? It’s become a common thing for people to lob at JKR, along with the “you’ve destroyed your legacy!” nonsense & presumably someone decided it sounded Clever, Weighty & Dramatic & it got added to The Script with no examination of whether or not it made any kind of sense.

Of course, absence of sense/logic/coherent argument is sort of the TRAs thing, so I shouldn’t really be surprised; but if you are seeking to argue a subject, you do rather undermine yourself if your would-be dramatic flourishes highlight quite fundamental gaps in knowledge & understanding. It doesn’t improve should someone trot it out who actually does understand its meaning; because “I’m advocating for a brutally suppressive Big Brother-style state” is not likely to make your fellow humans think you have right on your side.

Do they think people will cower before this - & the more general “right side of history” nonsense - as they expect them to at the cry of “transphob[e/ia/ic]!”?

Methinks Trelawny should listen to ‘The Witch Trials of J K Rowling’ to understand what JKR thinks about her ‘legacy’.

  • would listen!

Thank you - I knew there was somewhere she’d discussed it at length but couldn’t remember where when I was writing the post.

The notion of a fixed & enduring “history” rather than constantly evolving understanding of the past coming from an adult absolutely baffles me. Literally infantile - I’m not sure they’re even ready for a Ladybird Book of Mean Women Who Said No 🤦‍♀️

Who said this, was it another actor with more bile than sense?

Just your standard sanctimonious self-satisfied TwiX oddbod. Famous people on Twitter can be good craic, but feck knows what possesses people to give out to them like that. What size ego must you have to take it upon yourself to vomit that kind of bilge into someone’s TL.
