My DS is autistic and loves Strictly and DWTS, I have to watch it with him, its something we have done together for years. So disappointed that for a SECOND year running I have to grit my teeth and put up with a womanface man. I suppose at least his name (Blu Hydrangea) is less offensive than last year's (Panti Bliss, urgh).

I'm not watching it but I agree that Drag Queens are like bloody whackamole on so called prime time TV.

IKissedKermit · 07/01/2024 20:54

Walked into the room whilst this one was on, didn't see the start. Footwork looked okay but stiff on top. Ludicrous parody of woman face. Knew instantly he was a man/drag artist, fair dues to him he can move in heels. He probably has a performance advantage here as most women avoid high heels these days. He seemed very confident in his performance. Didn't see any of the other acts. Was a bit shocked that all the judges gave him 8, seemed overly generous, they must be aiming to try and keep him in the show. The boyfriend/fiance in the audience looked very low key. The Union Jack pics on his SM are not going to earn him any votes. I'v always liked hydrangeas but this is giving me the ick!

I have coulrophobia so would have to switch off.

A clown in a gown!

A clown in a gown!

It's pretty much the same aesthetic.

Excuse me…you Bigototti they’re Non Binary. Can you not tell, such ignorance. Sniff, hoicks bosoms.

thirdfiddle · 07/01/2024 22:16

Why is it non-binary causes men to wear dresses and fake boobs, and women to cut their hair short and their boobs off? Almost like there are differences between the male and female version.

VaddaABeetch · 07/01/2024 22:28

Well of course there are female non binary in frilly dresses, heels, long hair, giggles & lipstick . Then there’s male non binary which is short hair, preferably looking as though it’s been hacked with a kitchen knife & baggy shapeless trousers & tops.

You people are so Non Binaphobic.

thirdfiddle · 07/01/2024 23:33

Though tbf there's also the version of nonbinary who win nonbinary marathon classes. Generally characterised by male sex and the wearing of crop tops. They're so nonbinary that the female equivalent is yet to be discovered.

VaddaABeetch · 08/01/2024 00:48

Non Binary’s are very attracted to sports. These non bisnatyx are always in possession of meat & 2 veg.

Abhannmor · 08/01/2024 12:48

Ah god be with the days of dear old Shirley Temple Bar. He seems like a decent old skin.

VaddaABeetch · 08/01/2024 15:29

Can’t stand any man in woman face.

theDudesmummy · 14/01/2024 20:00

So, watching the footage of him rehearsing as himself, ie a perfectly normal-looking gay man, what I don't understand is why all the celebrities compete as themselves, not as a "character", including those who are known as actors portraying a character. Yet this man gets to compete as a character he portrays and not as himself. Isn't that weird?

OP posts:
VaddaABeetch · 14/01/2024 20:06

Not weird, all part of the ‘Look at me’ I’m so special shtick

theDudesmummy · 14/01/2024 20:09

Yeah well, of course. Why can't people see how skewed this is?

Well, I'm sure his parents told him he was very special.

theDudesmummy · 15/01/2024 09:34

What I also found sad is that, as himself, Joshua is a nice-looking young lad (I looked him up and he is only 27, which is what he looks like when not wearing womanface). As Blu Hydrangea he is channelling, in an offensive way, an ageing diva.

Lily savage and Dame Edna where my favourite ever comedians. I don't know anything about drag kings, can you recommend any in particular

NeighbourhoodWatchPotholeDivision · 16/01/2024 12:07

If men find drag kings offensive, that is for men to discuss.

This is a women's rights forum. Perhaps reddit would be more your speed.

Also, dressing up as a derogatory caricature of the opposite sex is not an inherent part of male or female homosexuality. I think it's offensive and homophobic that anyone tries to conflate the two.

Homosexuality = sexual attraction to the same sex. That's all.
