Ten Parents Sueing DfE for harms caused by teaching on gender id

Not seen anything about this, sorry if there has been. There's a crowdfunder on a website called Democracy Three. If you Google that plus 'asleep at the wheel' it should come up. Looks interesting. Does anyone know any more about it? Details c and p below:

Ten parents are suing the Department for Education (DfE) in negligence. The DfE has failed to act to prevent serious harm to children in violation of its own statutory guidance and the law, which prioritises child safeguarding and prohibits political indoctrination.

Over the past 10 years gender ideology has embedded itself across our education system. It is in primary schools and secondary schools; in state schools and private schools; in grammar schools and comprehensive schools; in all areas of the country and in all social groups. No child or family anywhere is safe from its pernicious influence.

Through negligent management of our education system, activists have infiltrated schools and gender ideology has become mainstream in our classrooms, causing untold harms to children and their families; indoctrinating children to believe they were born in the 'wrong' body; and encouraging vulnerable children and adolescents to engage in physical dissociation from reality by abandoning their biological sex for some mythical 'gender identity' - in some cases leading to dangerous medical experiments with puberty blockers, cross sex hormones and surgery, as well as the breakdown of family relationships.

It's hard to disagree with the premise of this. Who's behind it do we know? There are now so many groups knowledgeable about the erosion of safeguarding in schools it would be a shame if one of them is not involved?

I'm not surprised that it's come to this

MsGoodenough · 05/12/2023 19:17

It says it's being supported by the Bad Law Project which I believe is Harry (can't remember his surname, ex policeman).

That would be Anna Loutfi- barrister for the Bad Law Project I think?
Someone posted on here a youtube video of Anna Loutfi talking about this a while ago I think. I'll see if I can find it

Harry Miller

Thanks DameMaud. I'll take a look.

Luckily, I got out of teaching before this was
mentioned in my school. Plus, I was Primary so less of a focus and I taught sex ed factually and based on biology.

I was mightily unimpressed when a Pride stand appeared at our summer fete and was pushing gender ideology.

'Litigants seek compensation for the foreseeable harms caused by gender ideology and hope that the case will help amplify the concerns of teachers, parents and young people who have experienced the harm of gender ideology firsthand, and put an end to the shameless political activism in schools preying on the most vulnerable of our young people - many of them with learning disabilities or autism, as well as other underlying co-morbidities.

The case would also seek to have gender ideology properly defined in law so that it can be exposed for the political extremism that it is, with preventative measures mitigating against future harms to children.

The case remains open for parents, teachers and de-transitioners to join as litigants.

This case will be run by the Bad Education initiative, as part of the Bad Law Project.

The target of the project is £125,000 to bring the case, and protect the litigants from costs risks. Remaining / unused funds will be donated to supporting de-transitioners and young people suffering the effects of gender 'transition' as a result of indoctrination in gender ideology.'

My bold. That looks like it could be very useful.

I hope that the lawyers will have due regard to all the laws pertaining to safeguarding and not just focus on the EA- if they're good lawyers they will. Personally I think teaching gender ideology as fact in schools (which some schools are doing) without any balance and imposing its beliefs via pronoun compulsion already breaches many of the requirements in KCSIE.

The law is already being broken. It should honestly be slam dunk.

In that last thread a poster says laws don't take precedence over each other - this is not true KCSIE specifically says safeguarding takes precedence over the GDPR and the GDPR cannot be used as a reason to not share data if needed to safeguard effectively.

So there - at the very least - is precedence for safeguarding to be more important than the implementation of other laws in schools.

I also hope that they'll include the statutory requirement for schools to be politically neutral that is being breached by inviting lobby groups to sell their ideology to children in schools. All the groups currently found in schools or producing SRE materials for them take a hostile approach to women's rights, advocate for the removal of single sex sports, changing, showering etc along with actively promoting drugs, surgery & body modification as a positive choice for children. Clear evidence of political bias.
