Prison Service guidance on working with women - no messing around here!

The prison service has issued new guidance on working with women from ethnic minority groups, and doesn't waste time faffing about with definitions of women. It deals with really important issues around domestic abuse, trafficking, FGM, forced marriage and mother and baby units in prisons. These are genuinely important issues facing some of the most vulnerable individuals in our society. I am absolutely delighted to see that HMPPS is focusing on what really matters and not letting ideological blatherings obscure the really good work being done in this space.

It does feel as if the grownups are regaining control.

Oh that is excellent news!

Such good news. The fact that so many trans captured civil servants were allowed to enable the gaslighting and abuse of the most vulnerable women in prison has been shameful. We know that these people are well embedded in the MoJ, the Prison Service & the CPS so that's real progress if the rights and needs of vulnerable women are finally being centred. It's also an indication that management are being forced to stop prioritising the demands of a "sacred caste" of men over women.

This is good news, indeed.

Is the new guidance only for women from ethnic minorities, or is it for all women in prison?

Have you got a link to the new guidance? I'd like to read it.

Thank fuck. Let's hope that noise is the sound of various government departments shaking themselves and waking up from the gender induced moral coma they appear to have been in for the past five years.
