Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

🙄

"We are committed to ensuring that no service user, employee or potential employee is unfairly discriminated against on the grounds of their gender or gender identity, race, religion or belief, ethnic origin, sexual orientation, disability, age, marital status, pregnancy, caring responsibilities or employment status.”

Oh good, another game of 'spot the missing category'.

yetanotherusernameAgain · 20/11/2023 23:15

Stonewalled.

"In January this year we were proud to announce that Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service was ranked 127th in the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index, an improvement of 140 places from 2018."

MrsOvertonsWindow · 20/11/2023 23:34

"..women from 15 different services have come forward with claims that they too have been victims of gross misconduct". 😑

There's a thing at the bottom of the page that you could click and send feedback if there's anything wrong with the page. Probably a waste of time but I clicked it and sent a line about the missing category and with the fire services reputation for sexism and misogyny perhaps it wasn't an accidental omission.

I expect some poor IT geezer thinking 'wtf?'

ellyoctober · 20/11/2023 23:57

That article is 4 years out of date.

Wonder if they're still proudly celebrating TDoR?

And whether they're still happy to be stonewalled?

Times are a changin.

IcakethereforeIam · 21/11/2023 00:11

Yup, definitely thinking 'wtf'.

Bugger! Didn't realise it was an old article, sorry.
Trust me though, they are still very much captured but maybe not as willing to post publicly.
I've seen an official email today (which I was trying to avoid mentioning) promoting a memorial and open floor event at Derby where they wanted to discuss how "we mobilise to quell the surge in transphobic hate." The event was livestreamed.
How this was deemed relevant for an official fire service email I don't know.

OP posts:
Froodwithatowel · 21/11/2023 06:42

'Surge in transphobic hate' = 'people not unconditionally enabling regardless of cost to others'.

Whatever. Hold that mass for those Stonewall points! Swing that incense.

Imagine being so triggered by what is clearly a meaningless marketing paragraph, written by someone who doesn't give a shit.

The articles @Loubelle70 and @MrsOvertonsWindow shared have shown the awful treatment that women have endured yet a thread was only started because transpeople were mentioned.

I fear dislike of the trains movement is overtaking the desire to uplift women. This is not a good thing.

Another uniformed service and another story of its culture, which is shocking. These are the people we rely on to save our lives in the absolute worst...

And you are probably on the right track.

Obviously don't want to derail, or to sound loco, but I was reminded of:

There once was a man who said, Damn,
It is borne upon me that I am
An engine that moves
In predestinate grooves,
I'm not even a bus, I'm a tram.

Which could be updated:

There once was a person assigned male at birth who said, Damn,
I was born AMAB but, my fans,
I'm not one who moves
In predestinate grooves,
I'm too stunning and brave, I am trans.
