I'm aware that arriving fashionably late to the party, but I just finished reading Irreversible Damage by Abigail Shrier (I read it through twice, actually.) Beforehand I was somewhat out of touch with gender issues, but the book has left me deeply bothered about modern happenings.
I just don't understand why any minor would ever need a medical gender transition, surely injecting hormones and removing breasts can't be easier than whatever their "gender dysphoria" is or feels like? I just don't understand what terrible aspect of modernity is pushing youth to such extremes. "Doctors" today are replacing imaginary harm with physical scars!! I don't doubt that some adults benefit from a life of gender nonconformity, but pulling children into all this seems like such a huge mess waiting to happen (and already happening!) I am concerned for the future of my family as well as the future of the world. Anyone who advocates transitioning minors is not just hurting the next generation, they are also destroying their own ideology by creating a generation that will regret and hate the idea of gender transition. What a mess. But a silver lining on this terrible thundercloud could be that GI, like patriarchy, "sows the seeds of its own destruction."
