Lib Dems ' The Woman Fighting for Change'

Hmm visiting my parents and a flyer has come through from the Lib dems and that is on the front page.

Whilst I appreciate that those in charge of the LDs don't know what a woman is, do you think the fact they have used the word prominently means that this particular branch hasn't drunk the Kool Aid? - it doesn't appear to be necessary

(Most definitely a woman in the picture and interview)

Not sure I understand your logic. Presumably the woman in question is a LD member and has confirmed that she had the special woman essence that is what defines a woman? Ie they're not just calling an unidentified female a woman.

LDs are appalling on this.

No picture here.

Probably not. I had a Lib Dem flyer through from a candidate, it made much of how important it was to tackle VAWG and promote equality for women. I was delighted, we’ve not had a female candidate in our constituency forever. It was when the Isla Bryson thing was kicking off so I emailed her and said I had some concerns about the Lib Dem policy of self id. I got the biggest pile of incoherent cut and paste tripe back that didn’t answer my question and said trans people were a marginalised vulnerable group and basically said that anyone who questioned that was a bigot. I keep meaning to respond - even just a “well you don’t put that on your election leaflets” but everytime I read it it makes me mad.

Don't worry, they all know exactly what a woman is. They just pretend not to when they feel like they will get pats on the head from the right people by using "inclusive" language. In fact they often betray the fact that they know what a woman is because that is what helps them distinguish the most special kind of woman, the ones that are the most oppressed.

I'm interested in this, independents do badly here, choice is LD or Cons.

What if this branch doesn't agree with head office, like Rosie Duffield for Labour? It just seems clunky, but I'm probably looking for crumbs.

I have emailed asking for more information.

OP Please update when you hear back?

I’ve had the same experience as MrsGalloway - wrote to try to understand their position, and got some ‘nobody checks your passport before you use the loo’ nonsense. At this point I foolishly still thought I might be communicating with a functioning human, so I mailed back asking for clarification. I got back all the same paragraphs, but pasted in a different order, and not remotely answering the questions 🙄

I don’t hold out much hope for the Lib Dems - sadly their funding won’t allow them to give the subject any real consideration
