They seem to be in the states.
What a farce! How can these people claim to support women?!

The USA is more fucked up for women than I thought was possible!

RudolphTheRedNosedSpaniel · 02/11/2023 10:53

This is an organisation which exists to support women's legal rights ffs!

It's so offensive and immature 🤯

I accidentally saw this episode as one of the DC was watching it.

That the ‘terf’ is the only girl at the Halloween party not wearing a sexy costume (and is mocked for it) may rather undermine their ‘feminist’ message.

ChishiyaBat · 02/11/2023 11:01

It doesn't surprise me, but I am getting so fed up of services for women getting overrun by men and putting stuff like this out.

RudolphTheRedNosedSpaniel · 02/11/2023 12:04

Misogynistic "feminist" organisations are pretty ridiculous!

I don't get how the person who posted this does not understand the different levels of misogyny of that "meme".

They used a holiday to demean women

The portrayal of the terf is supposedly ugly. Women's looks are the first thing to be commented on in t his misogynistic society

The terf is dressed up for Halloween but not in a sexualised way. So the woman who dresses up for fun is vilified because she is not dressing to appease the male gaze.

It's just ... ugh

RudolphTheRedNosedSpaniel · 02/11/2023 13:05

At least the comments are pointing this out!

In another post they equate abortion rights with trans rights:

All 8 comments I can see are calling them out for misogyny.

RudolphTheRedNosedSpaniel · 02/11/2023 13:10

So disturbing.

Yes which is good.

However, I'm disturbed by the fact they have 47.2K followers!

47k followers out of how many women who live in the USA? Their Instagram feed is asinine

nepeta · 02/11/2023 18:06

I can't remember when the NWLC changed. They used to be very good on legal defense of women in the US. But they are not the only ones who are no longer for feminism. The same is true of NOW and the Women's March is an utter joke (on women, of course).

I'd love to be a fly on the wall in the meetings, to learn the reasons for these changes, whether they reflect majority views within the organisations, whether any actual deep thinking has been done, whether anyone there has read a single book on feminism and the history of women's rights etc. Sadly, I'm not tiny enough for that.

nepeta · 02/11/2023 18:08

And Everyday Feminism (which I haven't checked for ages) was never about feminism at all, and often explicitly opposed to anything that would have fought against sex-based mistreatment.
