Article in Unheard, JKR being 'interviewed' on her views on her views an Australian trans artist taking the part of JKR with 'cis' person taking the part of the 'trans' interviewer.......I cannot believe this is not slanderous! Or libelous if it's written for all to see......can this really go unchallenged by any legal or ethical avenue?

New play features 'interview' with JK Rowling over her trans views

This week, Melbourne Fringe will host An Evening with JK. For just $28 a head, theatregoers will finally be able to hear how “one of the world’s most celebrated authors become one of the most hated,” as JK Rowling sits down for an “exclusive, hard-hitt...

Only in a world where this poison is so implicit could something unacceptable like this be done so brazenly.

She needs to sue them so their sorry arses never re-enter Earth's orbit again.

*"This will not be an evening with the actual flesh-and-blood JK Rowling, but rather an evening with Anna Piper Scott, a transgender playwright who has taken on the burden of both scripting and reading Rowling’s lines.

In an interview with The Age, Scott said: “If we all stay quiet until it’s safe to talk about it, it’s going to just become more and more unsafe to talk about. I have to say something now — I think everyone has to say something now”. The playwright went on to describe the play as an act of “empathy”:

“It’s definitely not a show that’s going to redeem TERFs [trans-exclusionary radical feminists] or anything like that, but I do want to understand how they’ve gotten where they’ve gotten, because a lot of these people they were originally proper feminists arguing for women’s rights, fighting really important battles around abortion and everything like that. And then suddenly, their entire lives become consumed by this one issue.”"*

"...burden" lol X 100
Honey, the burden is all on us.

RealityFan · 21/10/2023 19:52

I get it now.
After years of No Debate, now it's...Debate.
Great, but, um, the debate is between two parties, oh not really, "both" of them the same trans person.
So it's still...No Debate.

Can I have my fucking ticket refund please!

I haven’t ‘gotten’ anywhere. Ever.

Staying Spartacus.

$28 no thanks😂

Yes, well done. You've slightly misunderstood though, that this one issue is STILL women's rights and it's STILL really important, and it's STILL being fought for.

ApocalipstickNow · 21/10/2023 20:02

Can we all play?

I’ll be Anna Piper Scott.

A Play What I Wrote

APS (me): I love JK Rowling. She’s the bestest! Buy more of her books and donate to her charity!

I am AnnaPiperScottacus!

RealityFan · 21/10/2023 20:07

Gotta be the biggest example ever of cultural appropriation. Hang on, I thought that was out?

fedupandstuck · 21/10/2023 20:10

Does this kind of show have to have a disclaimer that the comments ascribed to JKR are totally fictional and don't represent her point of view at all? Because otherwise isn't it potentially libellous/defamation if not?

MichelleScarn · 21/10/2023 20:12

Oh @ApocalipstickNow applause applause!! Grammy and all the rest for you NOW!!
Never a truer word was spoken of Anna Piper Scott's love for JKR!

This can't be on, full stop?
Is there any precedence for such a debacle?
If she'd given permission, but she obviously hasn't.

Male expectancy on steroids.

VeryQuaintIrene · 21/10/2023 20:14

Disgraceful - hope she sues the pants off them for defamation.

I love this, I am wishing for a crowd outside the theatre dressed as Anne Piper Scott all wearing 'Woman: Adult Human Female' t-shirts and holding up 'I ❤️JKR' placards!

It’s EGOT or nothing for this titan of the literary world.

(I had to have 4 goes at spelling literary right. That’s how good I am)

MargotBamborough · 21/10/2023 20:19

Jesus Christ, who do these people think they are?

"Anna Piper Scott" has a very twisted view of empathy, which involves trying to actually understand where the other person is coming from, not making up things they might think and say if they really were as evil as you want them to be.

fedupandstuck · 21/10/2023 20:23

I was wondering about shows like The Crown where it's about living people and the dialogue/scenes must be fictional because no one knows about what those people actually said/did at the time. Or is that ok because the royal family tend not to sue??

lordloveadog · 21/10/2023 20:35

Surely this is just creating more work for lawyers?

That's a very clear illustration that this cos-player has no idea what it's like to be a woman. Feminists! Behold, a man is here to tell you what you should be feministing about!

🙄 x a million

That old phrase needs re writing
The only things guaranteed are death and taxes...now need to add in legal fees.

TheGreatATuin · 21/10/2023 20:41

It looks like an extremely long version of the old twitter response of 'oh so what you're actually saying is...' and then an army of strawmen come marching in.
If Scott bothered to put JKRs actual words on stage (and iirc her terf wars essay was 3000 words plus so plenty of material) and then used that as a 'debate', then it might be interesting, but what's the point in this?

MargotBamborough · 21/10/2023 20:42

The only place I have "gotten" to is no longer being willing to indulge people's insistence that women can have penises and men can get pregnant.

That would make a very boring play.

One about how the people who believe in this nonsense have "gotten where they have gotten" would be more interesting.
