LD: I was concerned with JP comments c withdrawing from SW

BC: but what you do, repeatedly, is not engage in debate with JP in public or private but go to your HoD and say JP is breaching policy.

BC: You're trying to get action taken to stop JP speaking out c these matters.

LD: No I'm not

BC: You also wrote to exec Dean of the faculty saying JP and JPk are breaching OU policy. You were expecting him to investigate and take action.

LD: No. Just raising concern to Dean.

CriticalCondition · 12/10/2023 15:54

BC - your conduct is not to write your own letter to the Times disagreeing with JP but to go to your deputy head of department and complain she's breaching policy. That's what you do over and over again, not challenge her publicly or privately but go behind her back.

Mmmnotsure · 12/10/2023 15:55

Did we forget collegial/te for the bingo. LD is trying to be collegial, she says.

IcakethereforeIam · 12/10/2023 15:56

They is a snek.

Damnit, collegium and synergesium would make a half-decent end-rhyme too!

Oh Brother Facepalm GIF by reactionseditor

BC: If you can do it quickly tell us the bit that is wrong in her talk
LD: where she talks about people with penises cant have babies...

Chrysanthemum5 · 12/10/2023 15:57

I'm still in the lobby

@Mmmnotsure in terms of collegial / collegiate - people are collegial while buildings are collegiate (eg belonging to a college system)

RethinkingLife · 12/10/2023 15:58

Yes, and it's also the article where they state their opposition to the 'prison industrial complex' and argue that sentences do not provide accountability so they are interested in how communities create justice themselves.

Our accountabilities can be hampered by the skewed power dynamics in the communities we inhabit. Especially when the self-appointed leaders of those communities have the freedom to indulge their luxury beliefs despite the costs to others.

Adlai Stevenson: The tragedy of our day is the climate of fear in which we live, and fear breeds repression. Too often, sinister threats to the bill of rights, to freedom of the mind, are concealed under the patriotic cloak of anti-communism. [It's plausible that we could insert our own current concerns for "patriotic…anti-communism.]

Learned Hand: Liberty lies in the hearts of men and women; when it dies there, no constitution, no law, no court can even do much to help it. While it lies there it needs no constitution, no law, no court to save it. And what is this liberty which must lie in the hearts of men and women? It is not the ruthless, the unbridled will; it is not freedom to do as one likes. That is the denial of liberty, and leads straight to its overthrow. A society in which men recognize no check upon their freedom soon becomes a society where freedom is the possession of only a savage few; as we have learned to our sorrow.

"I can't recall" BINGO!

Not sure I'd want a lecturer who has such a bad memory - how could you remember seminal papers in your field?

MavisMcMinty · 12/10/2023 15:59

Sounds like LD is the person, the instigator, behind this whole tribunal - would that be fair to assume?

Chrysanthemum5 · 12/10/2023 15:59

@pronounsbundlebundle it's quite easy when you are in a discipline which you've essentially made up and you are the main author in that area

ickky · 12/10/2023 16:00

@MavisMcMinty yes I think so together with Dr Paraskevi Boukli

Hey, you're the composer! Would it be appropriate to send to Jo Phoenix from her FWR ET supporters?

Not so much a field is it? More a patch of grassy mud.

Mmmnotsure · 12/10/2023 16:02

LD is coming over as more and more arrogant as LD goes.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 12/10/2023 16:02

I'm sure Im being very stupid, but I don't understand why the OU thought fielding this witness (or any of the witnesses so far) was going to help their case.

My understanding was that witnesses are meant to help "their side" through their evidence, but all of these witnesses seem to be supporting JPs case ?

Limony · 12/10/2023 16:03

He’s 6.5 in his socks apparently.

pronounsbundlebundle · 12/10/2023 16:05

Ben, Ben needs his support wren
Trying to get a straight answer
Out of a they/them
They cannot remember
They cannot recall
They seemingly cannot cope with real facts at all
Yet they want penis in a woman's shower stall*

(*obvious not THEIR shower stall, only marginalised and vulnerable women should be cannon fodder for their intellectual wankery)

Medlady · 12/10/2023 16:06

👏👏🍾🍾💐💐magnificent work by Ben’s Support Wren

How very dare you. It identifies as a field. It’s just turf(s) stopping it producing a veritable festival of harvestable crops.
