Black and white again @MyLadyDisdainlsYetLiving - you must be close to a line!

LarkLane · 11/10/2023 11:07

Thanks @ickky I bow to your opinion as you can hear the fecker, I managed to edit my post.😁

Melissamelisante · 11/10/2023 11:08

The GCRN exist in spite of the OU, not because of the OU. IF trying to take credit on behalf of the OU for the existence of the GCRN.

LarkLane · 11/10/2023 11:09

Just wow to that one @Melissamelisante

Doesn't know what 'spiked' means.

Mmmnotsure · 11/10/2023 11:10

IF says that as GCRN still in existence and going well means there was no real damage. BC going through list of damage to GCRN members and the group.

IF doesn't know what spiked means in relation to articles! A discussion ensues.

Mmmnotsure · 11/10/2023 11:12

IF getting stroppy. BC says you know x. IF - how would I know that? BC: well, we'll come to that.

CriticalCondition · 11/10/2023 11:12

JM provides an explanation. I think she said she's a former journalist.

SaffronSpice · 11/10/2023 11:13

marking

MyLadyDisdainlsYetLiving · 11/10/2023 11:13

The overall impression is that IF considers everything under the umbrella of academic freedom and no-one was considering the OU obligation to consider the welfare (physical and mental) of ALL of it's staff, particularly when impacted by the actions and words of the other staff.

Mmmnotsure · 11/10/2023 11:14

IF contrasting OU (good) to Essex (not good) in its commitment to academic freedom through all these 'hoo has'.

LarkLane · 11/10/2023 11:15

No I know @ickky, Flowers I'm full of covid today so bear with me, I did a silly amend to my post. It's just that you get a picture in your head of someone, and I'm having to adjust it a bit ha ha.

Who would play IF when they make the film of these famous courtroom scenes?

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 11/10/2023 11:15

Seems he's relying on 'didn't do anything wrong' so heavily he risks falling into 'failed to act on obligations'. A tricky line to walk.

HellonHeels · 11/10/2023 11:15

Mmmnotsure · 11/10/2023 11:14

IF contrasting OU (good) to Essex (not good) in its commitment to academic freedom through all these 'hoo has'.

That's not going to hold up for much longer, hasn't he heard about Pilgrim Tucker's case against the OU? They really show up as beacons of academic freedom there.

CriticalCondition · 11/10/2023 11:15

IF - I would agree that actions of other people have had an effect on GCRN members. (IF's emphasis)
Not me guv

Mmmnotsure · 11/10/2023 11:17

IF agrees actions of other people [emphasised] acting within their own FoS caused difficulties to the GCRN.

BC takes him back to policy. FoS doesn't encompass right to discriminate or harrass. OU training discrimination can inc treating others eg, in calls for boycott.

IF: they were certainly wishing to withdraw from working with GCRN

ickky · 11/10/2023 11:17

@LarkLane It's hard to say aa you can't really see them very well, just a general human shape 😀

MyLadyDisdainlsYetLiving · 11/10/2023 11:19

I think Jim Broadbent would be a shoo-in to play him in the film.

Medlady · 11/10/2023 11:20

He’s actually much younger than I was imagining. A bit Eamonn Holmes from a few years ago goi g by his uni picture

Melissamelisante · 11/10/2023 11:21

Hoping for a break soon, I need a wee but don't want to miss anything.

CriticalCondition · 11/10/2023 11:22

Bang on. Both in looks and voice.

Ooh, looks like we're warming up for a repeat of the "if I can point you to this document that entirely undermines your last few minutes of testimony" from yesterday. 😀
