Government should stay out of science

So much going on around the Tory conference but this Guardian article caught my eye. Basically the government shouldn’t get involved in what scientists are doing

Science has gone woke. Or mad. Take your pick. 20 years ago I had to go to court to try to get puberty blockers prescribed for a child with LD who wouldn't for various reasons be able to cope with puberty. We failed. Puberty blockers were at that time known to be so detrimental to the health of a child that even in the most extreme circumstances (our case) they were refused. It was vanishingly rare for them to be prescribed because of side effects. They haven't changed, but they are now prescribed to all and sundry and all of a sudden we hear there are no serious side effects. Bollocks. There definitely are.

My Twitter is full of scientists saying the government is full of shit on this issue.

How have they all missed one of the most concerning issues of this generation? It's everywhere you look. Are they turning a blind eye to people being silenced and bullied or have they just not seen it?

Apparently Victoria Derbyshire did some kind of take down / gotcha of Michelle Donelan about her science speech. It popped up on a friend’s social media feed. I haven’t watched it.

He knows exactly what is going on and is a coward. Here’s his reply to Sheena on X.

I'd happily add "(some of whom express them in an aggressive, bullying manner)". I don't accept it was somehow obligatory to say that in an article like this, but I do agree that it's the case.

So, even being aware of the bullying, he still won’t bring himself to mention how one sided that bullying is. Disingenuous coward. He may be right about government staying out of science, but science has gone woke, and he failed to condemn the scientists and students behind this or support the ones who suffered at their hands.

Bloody hell what an utter coward indeed. He’s been given a platform in a national paper, of course it’s incumbent on him to point out that issue as well!!
