Labour Party Conference 2023/ The World Transformed

The Labour party conference is fast approaching. October 8th - 11th in Liverpool.

The World Transformed is an event which runs alongside the conference - but totally independent of it. This is seen by many as the 'real' Labour party event - and it is attended by the likes of Owen Jones, Novara Media, Jeremy Corbyn and so on.

Here is The World Transformed programme of events for this year. You will note two events that focus on trans issues - including one that advertises itself as a feminist event ( The Feminist Assembly):

"Hosted by MeTU, FALA, the Dyke Project and Women’s Strike Assembly, to collectively analyse and strategise around contemporary frontiers of feminist struggle - from abortion and sex work decrim to trans liberation, misogyny in the workers' movement to gendered state violence"

The other is 'Towards Liberation: Beyond Trans Rights' and is being led by Mallory Moore ( Trans Safety Network) and Sophie From Mars ( You Tuber)

An interesting what?! Email? I didn't get one and have had emails from them in the past.

Misogyny in the workers' movement

Presume this is a 'How To' guide given the people involved.

I note the 'Feminists' have no plans to discuss actual real life women's struggles in 2023 UK (DV, low pay, welfare, childcare, elder care, midwifery, unpaid work).

@Leafstamp - email, sorry! I think there is an event planned.

Worth noting none of the World Transformed events have MPs listed as attending. The Labour Women's Declaration events now listed in conference programme have a bunch. LWD is getting stronger, effectively banned a few years ago, now getting more powerful

There is also an event with Rosie Duffield here: club.unherd.com/event/labour-party-conference-what-is-labours-offer-to-women/

The fight for Labour is on. Don't assume the sexists are going to win. They have been defeated before, that is how we got a bunch of good legislation from Labour as well as terrible stuff. The battle is ongoing.

Labour Party Conference: What is Labour's offer to women? - UnHerd Club

Would a Labour Government tackle head-on the issue of women, sex and gender, or choose to avoid such a politically contentious subject? UnHerd Editor Sally Chatterton will be joined by Rosie Duffield MP to ask what Labour has to offer women – past, pre...

They do this with a straight face? Labour is an actual farce. They are not the party I grew up on, the party my dad was involved in because he wanted fairness in society. He’d be turning in his grave. I do not recognise Labour any more.

Annelise Dodd's speech at Labour Women's Conference - suggesting that Labour will record hate crimes against women - but then adds 'against LGBTQ+' (and disabled women) - which basically means - only if we can include men as women too.
