With more than a 1000 met police officers suspended or on restricted duties due to the ongoing review of vetting and domestic violence, sexual assaults and rape allegations how can any woman trust that the police will protect them.

Sixty Met Police officers a month face the sack for wrongdoing

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Stuart Cundy (pictured) said it will take years to get rid of officers who have breached standards or failed vetting.

Good grief.

so they gave up racism and honed the misogyny instead?

I think that it was more of a case of multi-tasking.

If you look at all the reviews they are still just as racist and homophobic as ever they just ramped up the misogyny to previously unheard of levels, but there's never any transphobia reported, I wonder what could have caused it 🤔

The police have long headed the statistics tables for incidence of domestic violence. Not great for the institution that is supposed to deal with crime.

Misogyny seems to be part of the fabric.

Tanith · 19/09/2023 12:21

I wonder how many are on full pay while suspended, if these investigations are going to take years.

RavingStone · 19/09/2023 12:34

This is so fucking depressing.

We'd be screwed without the police but we're
also screwed by them.

How on earth can an issue so deeply systemic be solved without starting the whole organisation again?

I'm starting to think males are just too emotional to be able to handle positions of responsibility jokes obvs

stealtheatingtunnocks · 19/09/2023 22:17

I have never had anything to do with the police other than as Helpful Citizen but I’d think twice about going in a police car or stopping for them on the road now. And I doubt I’d report a violent crime against me. Or encourage another woman to.

HereForTheFreeLunch · 20/09/2023 09:53

Still going on about bad apples. It's the whole barrel full.

I wonder if that poster who always defends the police is going to come in this thread explaining why the police are being framed or something.

Well, that’s a real shame, and will do nothing but embolden crimes against women.

Too many and I bet it goes right to the top

Sure... it's the First Rule of Misogyny. Can't ever hold the precious penis-havers responsible for their own behaviour.

Why, their poor widdle dicks might go limp.

Greenshake · 21/09/2023 17:34

Errr…..what?

Suggesting that women not reporting, rather than a rational response to shit service, is the reason for shit service. That's the issue.

Women have been encouraged to report and we've received shockingly dreadful service, which would be bad enough if it resulted in prosecutions. But it doesn't.

The police are the issue. Plus the courts, the media and all the other institutions. Not women.

It's probably not a coincidence that the only person I know who received a wonderful response from police regarding sexual abuse, taken very seriously, was also the only man I know personally who disclosed to me as a friend. All the women either didn't bother reporting or had a shit response. His perpetrator was prosecuted. Never known a female friend to get a prosecution.

I do know convicted rapists through work so it does happen. Just very rarely and typically it's stranger rape.

See my username. That is all.

Greenshake · 21/09/2023 18:05

On the other hand, I can think of numerous cases via my job where individuals have been given very good and consistent service from the Police, regardless of sex, criminal background etc.
