Inclusive Disabled toilets

At a petrol service station on Saturday, saw my first Inclusive Toilet with a sign like the one below.

As it’s ‘Inclusive’, does it means that anyone can use it. From a slightly tongue-in-cheek angle, does this mean I can skip the long coach party queue queuing for the ladies toilets, and now use the disable loo? Isn’t this not good for any disabled person wanting to use the toilet if anyone can now use it?

I appreciate that companies are trying to ‘solve’ the trans issue of a third space, and can’t magic up a new toilet in an existing building, so using the disabled toilet to double up seems a rational solution. However, is this at a loss for the disabled communuty?

It is a huge loss to disabled people who may need quick access to a toilet facility. Mens feelz should not over ride people physical disabilities.

It’s not just men that are trans?
I do agree that it’s unfair on disabled people, my dd is disabled and we use disabled loos when we need too, but maybe there’s also a need for inclusive toilets. I have noticed more places now have individual unisex toilets.

ds is disabled and things like this really worry me, accessing toilets is hard enough as it is without making them a free for all.

we where are a service station last week which had a sign like this on the door of the one accessible toilet. That toilet was at the top of the corridor into the ladies toilets at a point where when outside the door you were basically in the ladies. That’s not fair either in the ladies going in or on 13 year old DS (or any other men) trying to access the disabled toilet.

it’s not solving problems it’s causing them

Transmen are not a danger to women in the ladies loos though.

All toilets should be neutral, plus at least one for those with a disability.

I always think of the small service stations that have one single unisex toilet. They are vile to use - always stink of urine and often have skid marks left in. They just feel 'grubby'

By 'neutral' do you mean 'mixed sex'?

When I came out, yes I suppose we were in there 5 minutes or so, but 3 wee’s and hand washing !, a man was waiting to go in, he had a right go at me for taking so long.

Just a general, able-bodied man? Why did he need to use the disabled toilets? He didn't and even if he was disabled, he had no right to speak to you like that.

I was in a queue for a public lavatory by the sea. I was in a very tricky bit of sports kit that was going to take a while to wrestle out of so let the man behind me in the queue go ahead of me, thinking, I'd manoeuvre out of what I could (and still be decent in public) in the brief time he'd take.

Nothing but flushing noises.

30mins later, his wife came up and said, "He's got OCD. He'll be flushing for a while yet." I had to leave because she couldn't coax him out.

Blimey! I'd have been banging on the door and shouting at him!

Someone should tell them that changing the bloody signs all the time is NOT inclusive. Some of us can’t use the other toilets even when we are feeling uncomfortable. On the other hand it’s going to be interesting listening to ds loudly pondering why they are dressed as they are.
