Well this is a new low! Not sure what else to say, just flabbergasted anyone would give her airtime Angry

I can't bear to listen. I do hope they will mention her suspension by the GMC.

Nope, not a word! The debate was about whether 999 call handlers need 're education' so as not to misgender callers, I would have thought cpr instruction and, you know, getting an actual ambulance out to them was more important but what do I know?! 🙄

What a topic! Hmm, let me think about that for a hot second. No, nope no re education needed.

How did they manage to stretch that out for long enough for it to be called a debate?

When I did a St John’s Ambulance course a few years ago, we were told that if we needed to call 999 we should tell the call handler whether the patient was female or male, among other things.

I wonder if they now tell trainees to say they think an unconscious patient is AFAB or AMAB, but can’t be sure because they can’t ask them?

There's also the different presentations of symptoms in men and women for things like heart attacks to be considered. It's obvious to anyone with an ounce of common sense that sex matters when it comes to healthcare, all this blurring of lines and language is only ever going to cause more problems than it solves.

Jesus, the utter state of him and his woeful show. Talk about scraping the bottom of the barrel. Maybe no one even vaguely credible will agree to be a guest anymore

viviscool · 16/08/2023 13:13

was he doing his usual of pretending not to understand what the arguments are about?

HerAvatar · 16/08/2023 13:25

Jeremy Vine wasn't actually on, it was the segment where Storm Huntley takes over but tbf she's no better.

Well, that would be a) a waste of time in an emergency setting and b) confusing (and potentially alienating) for vulnerable people (including those who speak English as an additional language).

But gotta prioritise your own super special customer base eh, Webbers?

IwantToRetire · 16/08/2023 16:44

Its worth remembering that JV only got this slot on C5 because the previous presenter wouldn't gave in to ITN who make the programme and apologise for a guest being misgendered.

Not forgetting that his main employer is the BBC so he is will up to speed on Stonewall speak.

I feel sorry for Storm Huntley who seems to accept her role as second fiddle. Originally she had this slot and they didn't even give it her name.

But all the trans issues on this show are like this.

So I didn't see it but a friend who had heard me ranting about the disgraceful segment that had on JKR being erased by the pop culture museum let me know of this endless toe curling obsequience.

I commented about this on the JKR museum thread, that whilst we are all online and FWR in the meantime mainstream tv seems to be peddling trans ideology.

And suspect this has a far greater influence than twitter, or other social media platforms.

ie daytime shows aimed at women, have women presenters spewing out be kind.

But yes having HW really does seem shockingly awful.

NicCageisnotNickCave · 16/08/2023 16:50

I did once see Lowri Turner go full terf on Vine - or did I imagine it?

This Morning have deffo done a lot of peddling of the Mermaids narrative, and Lorraine Kelly too. And obvs they shoe horned India Willy onto the Loose Women panel…

But Piers Morgan held the line on GMB for a long time (non binary penguin). I wonder what the day time viewing figures are like now?

There was a phone in on her section Monday about JK Rowling having her artifacts removed from the museum. I'd planned to watch it on catch up but it doesn't go onto catch up for some reason. Did anyone see it? I'd be interested in knowing what people were saying.

I saw some of it, can't remember much of the detail tbh but I do recall Storm having to admit that when she researched what JKR had said she couldn't actually find anything transphobic, unsurprisingly 🙄

re segment on JKR I saw it by chance and have posted about it on the JKR museum thread. https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/4866046-seattle-museum-culture-hall-of-fame-removes-rowling-for-transphobia?page=2

And I hear that today (again Storm Huntley) had a discussion about cancellation of Glinner's show in Edinburgh.

They actually called him an anti trans comedian (second hand info through my C5 correspondent!) and that as with other discussions, all the women go its so awful, these poor trans people, we should be kind. The men just go its all nonsense. Nobody talks about women's rights.

It makes you wonder does Storm Huntley think for herself or does she just read a script.

So sad if she is an example of what might be a future "heavy weight" commentator.

But then I suppose all people of her age have gone through the Stonewall finishing school and feel they are really advanced and on the cutting edge of social issues.

I dont know what the audience figures are for the show, but disturbing that this is what is being pumped into people's front rooms.
