Caroline Nokes on being very clear who she is talking about when she talks about girls being overwhelmingly the victims and boys the perpetrators, I was surprised how sensible she is while not really pushing schools to take up money to improve PSE . As always the reps from Everyone’s Invited were very clear. In some schools every single girl was a target. I think it is time we had separate but equal education. The man who spoke also quite sensible and realistic and said that shaming can be constructive for young men who have to have their behaviour challenged. I think the suggestions were that outside orgs should be doing this education, but we have seen how that has gone!

The Guardian had an article on this

https://www.theguardian.com/education/2023/jul/05/sexual-harassment-girls-scourge-schools-england-mps

This is what PSHE was meant to have been about imo. Not the nuts and bolts of sex, including some rather niche fetishes, or bloody gender identity. It should have been about safeguarding, not used as a way to undermine it.

Sexual harassment of girls is a scourge at schools in England, say MPs

Commons committee’s report calls for government strategy to engage with young boys to tackle problem

Outside organisations shouldn't be training - you just get self interested grifters with their own agendas causing havoc in schools - just as we've seen with trans groups. If you want to change behaviour in schools, then you do it through shared values, effective systems, good role models, great teaching that keeps children focussed & intelligent pastoral care / support systems that reinforce positive attitudes to learning, respecting the rights & boundaries of others and self awareness. You make it possible by having every adult onside & modelling this.
And dealing with outside influences means parents playing their part as well. I know it sounds idealistic but when you visit genuinely good / outstanding schools with strong values, you can see that most kids adapt well.

Nokes is a politician looking to regain some credibility after using her power to sell women down the river for so long. Wrong side of history and all that.

Sorry for the rant - there's a lot of sense spoken in the report - it's just that schools have been gaslit into believing that eroding boundaries (especially of girls) is important for inclusion while ignoring all the data about the abuse of gils and women in education that's been stacking up for so long. Just as these girls testify:

Dear Rishi Sunak - five teenage girls ask for single-sex toilets in schools

Five teeange girls write to the Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, to ask for the re-establishment of single-sex toilets in schools
