I somewhat like him as a comedian, but he is just borrowing a standard narrative on the left, that the Tory Party are "exploiting" an issue as a "distraction" as part of a "culture war".
Some journalists should have been more cautious about the cat thing, because all that was on the recording was someone using it as an example.
But gender ideology in schools is a real issue that people have concerns about, and you can't blame conservatives for a "culture war" that they didn't start. If they are "exploiting" it, then they wouldn't be able to exploit the issue if other people weren't pushing this agenda.
It's one side saying to the other, "this stuff shouldn't be important to you", while they ignore how important it is to their own side.
