With the end of the world fast approaching, why are we worrying about children identifying as cats? Oh by the way that didn't even happen anyway, it's just the Tories' culture war.

I know, I know, I shouldn't be surprised given the source. But has the author spoken to anyone who has been inside schools? Or listened to the TikTok audio? Or considered that maybe, if we could stop pissing about with gender stereotypes, we might actually be able to focus on the bigger problems?

I made a few comments under this article, some of which got moderated. The comments by people saying there are 3 sexes tend to remain though despite being utter nonsense.

The cat. Again. Deliberately twisting what actually happened in that classroom. And is happening in classrooms across Britain.

3 sexes? What on Earth’s the third? I thought the line was ‘sex is a spectrum’?!

@Hagosaurus everyone knows that there are three sexes, that is why is takes three gametes to make a baby, you know the egg, the sperm and… sorry I can’t remember the other one, it might be a clownfish, basic biology.

😂 I haven’t heard the ‘3 sexes’ line before - just either ‘sex is a spectrum’ or the slightly more bizarre ‘clownfish change sex so humans can too’!

The 3 sex thing is funny, because as you say it's completely contradictory to the sex is a spectrum line, but I've never seen an argument between the "3 camp" and the "spectrum camp" (and probably a lot of them are the same people). They just need the number of sexes to not be 2, by whatever bullshit means they can conjure up.

It's all going exactly to plan. "Two sexes three sexes It's a spectrum what's the point of differentiation of sex let's pretend it's irrelevant" it's so much easier to subjugate women if we call them"nonmen"

I somewhat like him as a comedian, but he is just borrowing a standard narrative on the left, that the Tory Party are "exploiting" an issue as a "distraction" as part of a "culture war".

Some journalists should have been more cautious about the cat thing, because all that was on the recording was someone using it as an example.

But gender ideology in schools is a real issue that people have concerns about, and you can't blame conservatives for a "culture war" that they didn't start. If they are "exploiting" it, then they wouldn't be able to exploit the issue if other people weren't pushing this agenda.

It's one side saying to the other, "this stuff shouldn't be important to you", while they ignore how important it is to their own side.

As I recall the recording, the teacher thought of intersex conditions as a third sex.

I have heard the idea that people who have DSDs and/or who declare themselves non-binary are a third sex from a few places over the past couple of years.

I think it is quite widespread in the US even among those who tend more towards a sex not gender identity and sex is immutable position. Sex is immutable but there are three sexes. Perhaps it is perceived as a compromise or something.

You what actually is a spectrum? The spectrum. And yet bizarrely no one is claiming that red and green can't be distinguished from each other, or that traffic lights must be cancelled. But somehow the gender spectrum makes it impossible for anyone to differentiate between male and female at all.
