Good to remember that there are some sports that women beat men at - endurance and long distance running being one!

A great achievement, well done to Jamie Aarons.

Amazing, I admit I saw the title and thought the worst.

nettie434 · 27/06/2023 09:26

I was a bit worried when I saw the headline but yes a real achievement. My SIL's brother has climbed all the munros - over a period of many years - so I am extra impressed by Jamie's achievement.

ArabeIIaScott · 27/06/2023 09:44

I only use 'woman' for women. 😊

An amazing feat! Well done that woman!

ArabeIIaScott · 27/06/2023 10:19

Absolutely. I feel somehow invigorated and strengthened even as I sit here on my arse drinking coffee.

I'm suffering vicarious exhaustion, just thinking of the logistics is making me tired.

ArabeIIaScott · 27/06/2023 10:23

Here, have some cake. For sustenance.

Kendal Mint Cake, in solidarity.

With chocolate? Feeling better already.

Billybagpuss · 27/06/2023 10:59

Christ, I’m doing 1 a year and happy to take the record for slowest snail ever. Awesome achievement.

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 27/06/2023 11:00

All that organisation

followed by all that climbing, hiking, cycling and canoeing

what an achievement

ArabeIIaScott · 27/06/2023 11:14

Yes, quite, Bernard, it's the planning that would scupper me. I can barely muster the energy required to organise the weekly shop.

Obviously all the running about up and down hills would be NBD.

Jamie is an incredible person. She has been planning this for a couple of years and had an amazing support team. So proud of her!!!

Boiledbeetle · 27/06/2023 19:07

Oh for a small slither of that woman's energy!

Good on her.

Goes for a Lie down after thinking about even thinking about thinking about doing what she did!

nepeta · 27/06/2023 20:56

Wow! So nice to read about this. Kudos to her!

Screamingabdabz · 27/06/2023 21:03

I heard about this on R4 this morning - they said it was the equivalent of climbing 16 Mount Everests. Impressive. Although I’m still someone who thinks mountain climbing is utterly pointless and not something to be celebrated quite so madly - when you think of what unseen work everyday heroes do in hospitals and schools. But well done her for such an amazing physical feat.

Same.

ArcaneWireless · 27/06/2023 21:08

A fabulous achievement. 🥳

DuesToTheDirt · 27/06/2023 21:48

How amazing. Just doing the Munros in that time would be incredible, but getting between them under her own steam, too, I am in awe!

FrangipaniBlue · 27/06/2023 22:09

Am I allowed to drop in my claim to fame that I have a friend who is friends with Jamie and completed some of the round with her as support?

She did a great interview on PM tonight about 27 minutes in. It really has been a magnificent feat of endurance and mental strength along with fantastic teamwork. And Jamie also has a day job where she has also been a 'unsung hero' as the pp put it.

@BernardBlacksMolluscs yes, so many disciplines involved! Great achievement!

mauvish · 27/06/2023 22:12

I've done some Munros (I expect that some of you have too). Even the easiest ones aren't easy. Even the ones where you can drive to the start of the footpath (which is what I did, every time), are a slog.

So I'm blown over by Jamie's achievement. well done that woman!

Brilliant! You may have guessed that she is one of my friends. I didn't accompany her though, much too unfit!

ArabeIIaScott · 27/06/2023 22:37

That's lovely that her pals are on here. She's done wonderfully well.

I've done one Mumnroe and it was quite enough.
