National Women's Register, like the W.I. does allow men to join

A thread earlier today discussed the WI admitting men to their membership.
I was a long-term member of the National Women's Register, a similar organisation, but my membership had lapsed over lockdown.

This morning I mailed them to ask if they allow men to join and have received this reply:

"We do not accept membership from men wishing to join NWR, however, if a man is reassigning their sex and is living as a woman and wishes to join then they can.
Please find attached a copy of our Equal Opportunities and Diversity policy which covers some guidance on this on page 3 & 4.

Please also find some information from the Equality Act, 2010."

Fixed it for them!

Where are the groups that used to exist to support women and girls now? Is there a single social educational sports or fun group still in existence…or are they all underground. I am devastated for those that cannot access what we built up over years. Furious that we have got to this point.

I couldn't agree more. The NWR was a life-line for me as a young mum, allowing me a nice social evening with other women but detached from the kids and family stuff.
The membership has aged, but as an older woman I value female company still, and am increasingly angry that we can no longer have our own spaces.
I am sure that the local group is men-free but at the risk of cutting off my nose to spite my face, I won't be there.

"living as a woman" my eyes always roll into the back of my head when I read this gibberish phrase.

They've mangled the language. A rare use of the word sex. When they mean gender. And referring to a man living as a woman as they. Is there some sort of 'they' netherworld a man passes through before 'he' becomes 'she'? It's all such utter bollocks.

How does one reassign ones sex I wonder 🤔?!
