Could we have an international female day?

International Women’s Day hasn’t worked.

Just getting a bit miffed off. India is giving Suzy tips on how to be a woman - one male to another.

International Women’s Day PR often features Transwomen as examples of equality, when they grew up as males with all the male
privilege they enjoyed. Why not focus on women and girls, maybe those in Afghanistan who are being denied an education (at best), women in the US who are denied abortion rights, women in Iran?

Am tired of womanhood being defined in such stereotypical confines.

Cool, put on your lippy and high heels, call yourself a woman. Women haven’t been oppressed because of our gender identity. We’ve been oppressed because of our sex.

We menstruate, we birth, we menopause.

WRN are organising a Global Women's Day. Search on You Tube for info!

If such a day was created, it would be instantly colonised.

Boiledbeetle · 02/06/2023 21:01

IW has already claimed the word female.

I guess the word woman just isn't enough for some people. It's just take take take!

It doesn't matter what you call it if it's aimed at women the men will want their piece of the action.

It's getting so tiresome.

waltzingparrot · 02/06/2023 21:07

XX chromosome day?

nilsmousehammer · 02/06/2023 21:49

It would end up a highly annoying day largely consisting of men insisting how it's all about them, being enabled by a lot of highly silly women.

The beliefs of a few don't change reality. The wine doesn't really turn into blood.

PomegranateOfPersephone · 02/06/2023 22:39

No thanks, I have absolutely had enough of the random allocation of Days of this, that and the other. They all seem to end up as marketing opportunities if they aren’t actually begun that way or ways of keeping DEI/EDI consultants occupied at public expense. And yes of course men in dresses will colonise any and all special days aimed at women and girls.

Do India and Suzy live rent free in your head all day every day?

Do you really think they spend all day thinking about the posters on a right-wing forum?

DarkDayforMN · 03/06/2023 00:30

Ooh, someone didn’t like the “rent free” comments they got earlier for obsessively mentioning Posie Parker and so they’re seizing the first opportunity to project it back onto their designated outgroup, even though it makes no sense. Sometimes it seems like TRAs are run by an algorithm, and not a complex one either. It’s morbidly fascinating.

Anyway it would be nice to honour and celebrate actual women but I agree with PP - the designated Days for everything are getting silly. Better to reclaim International Women’s Day. It has a long history and it will still exist when all this bollocks has shrivelled up.

Very well said Smile

The WRN idea of of Global Women's Day sounds good, though. They are encouraging individual women worldwide to post pictures of resistance or protest - anything at all, from photos of an event right down to a picture of a sticker or T-Shirt. Hashtag respectmysex. I don't think it is a push for an annual Day, although I may be misremembering. It's a global act of insurrection.

BellaAmorosa · 03/06/2023 04:48

And we need to take back IWD, Mother's Day, etc.

Exactly. Creating new days implies that we have surrendered the old ones. Let’s not. We need to defend what is ours rather than keep giving more ground which we know will then be colonised. The men who want our spaces are not going to willingly allow us anything for ourselves.

ACatCalledPushka · 03/06/2023 22:07

Thanks for your views. I’ve changed my view.

We have Pride month. Trans awareness day, international day against homophobia, transphobia and biphobia. All good.

Then International Women’s Day comes and organisations can’t wait to put a male in the publicity.

We need to take it back and forefront biological women who have always had to overcome discrimination because of their sex not because of their gender identity.

But how to do it?

Nothing for it but to play the long game and keep resisting the ideology. IWD and Mother's Day are our days.

I saw these chaps have started appropriating the lesbian symbol Labrys, there is nothing so sacred these men won't jump to claim it for themselves.

Oh FFS. The gender woos think they are so progressive but their whole ideology is based on regressive gender stereotypes and misogyny.
