I heard it in the week. It has a ropey start bogged down in compelled speach and gender identity ideology, including a captured therapist, but about 20 minutes in sane voices arrive and it turns into an interesting listen.

It seems that there are people in the BBC recognising that being a cheerleader for the ideology might not be the road to success while actual journalists are finding far more interesting stories lying underneath the glitter-smothered gender utopia.

That’s interesting nauticant, I was listening earlier in the week but gave up part way though…… maybe I need to listen to the rest of it.

Oh, you should. The contrast is noticeable.

Interesting but gosh it's all so so sexist.

There was some moderation (later) on caution about social transition and medical approach and schools not doing stuff behind parents' backs.

The whole programme though seemed to assume kids have a 'gender identity', and that this manifests in their conformity or otherwise to some kind of assigned gender rules. It's all so sexist and dreary. You can play with how you present yourself, this is normal, it does not require an identity or soul searching. Just have fun with it kids! Rules are there to be broken, and gender role rules are so weak these days anyway it's not even difficult.

Heard a bit of it. A private therapist who thought the explosion in gender id referrals was due to greater acceptance. Which is useful for him when he's raking in their money...

It's so vexing that this euphemism of 'gender identity' has taken over even how we're allowed to speak about this issue.

If the conversation was around if "men who desire to be women" should get access to female-only spaces, instead of talking about "trans women" with a "female gender identity", I bet that support for this madness would drop like a stone.

Thanks, nauticant, I'd've given up after the first five minutes if you hadn't said that. It could have been a lot clearer about the whole idea of gender identity having arrived on the scene a few years ago, and that most children with gender dysphoria grow out of it during puberty. I think the guy with his 9-y-o son was on the right lines, but I'm not sure how much the information in the programme would have been helpful to him.
