Thanks to cracnet.

I remember Paddy O'Gorman from the 90s on Irish radio. He would interview people on dole queues and one time he went and interviewed prostitutes and you could hear the fear when they were getting into the punters' cars. Now of this sex work mallarky.

Anyway this podcast consists of interviews with women being released from prison and/or who have stayed in homeless hostels

Tried the link but my phone flagged it as a dodgy site link so didn't stay: can you summarise the podcast @Coyoacan ?

How odd.

I am hopeless at summarising, sorry. It is really just women at the bottom of the ladder in Dublin, just released from prison after drug-related offenses, who managed to come off the drugs while in prison, but having to deal with a huge violent transwoman in a women's refuge, telling it in their own words. Paddy O'Gorman has a real ability to get people to tell their stories.

It is also a pleasure to see that that talented man is also gender critical in a Dublin where the transagenda seems to have taken over everywhere, especially among peole who work in the media and NGOs

'Looks like a woman, punches like a man'

I really recommend people try to listen to it, and to the two earlier ones he did with woman who had been in Limerick prison with transwomen (including Barbie Kardashian). The fear and distress caused to people already vulnerable (most women prisoners are there because of substance abuse triggered by early trauma) by male aggression.

P O'G's shock at the presence of a violent male-bodied person in a shelter originally intended for victims of male violence gets to the core of the issue.

@DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry

Thank you. You say it much better than I can

All of his episodes are worth listening to. He seems like a lovely, empathetic man. I remember him too, @Coyoacan , my mum listening to him when he was on RTE on the morning programme with Gaybo or Pat Kenny.

If his website isn't working, I was able to get the podcasts on the built in Google podcatcher on my phone so you might get them that way.

Will listen thank you.

My heart bleeds for these women, where life has been so bloody tough and now we as a society feed them to the wolfs.

Im so fucking angry at the selfish men and women who have allowed this to happen. They really do not give a crap.

Two other things struck me.

Combining the Limerick interviews and the recent one. The women spoke highly of the Dochas women's prison, set up with a view to help rehabilitate women, treat addiction, provide education, training etc. If a prisoner there breaks the rules she may be transferred to Limerick (where the violent transwomen are held) as punishment. One of the offences that incurs punishment is referring to transwomen as men, or as 'he'. It makes my brain ache. And my heart.

One violent transwoman in a homeless hostel, who punched a 60 year old woman across a room, terrified all the women interviewed whether they were there or not - word had spread, fear had spread, and homeless vulnerable women were considering sleeping rough rather than go into a hostel where there was a danger of being trapped in a building with a violent male-bodied person (these women know about male violence). Paddy O'Gorman broke his usual rule about not talking to officialdom on that one. Officialdom's smug reply was about its duty to care for all genders.
