Mr Beast youtube channel member now trans

This is something to keep an eye on if you have children who watch Mr Beast. One of the channel members Chris Tyson has started to present as trans, appearing in a recent live stream video dressed in a crop top. I've watched part of it and tbh, it was generally a very uncomfortable video with most of the participants being all awkward and often clearly uncomfortable. During the stream there were a lot of negative comments being made about Chris, which the youtubers could have been reading, contributing to the uncomfortable atmosphere. A lot of the comments also concern Chris' young son and the affect this will have on him. Along with comments blaming another man on the Mr Beast team for converting him.

My DS is generally a fan of the channels and I've decided to block them for at least a little while until this plays out some more. Between the man in the crop top, the clear awkwardness of the other men around him and the arguing in the comments, it's gone from a reasonably fun channel I was fine with a child watching, to something I feel is best kept away from for now. Youtube has made channel blocking harder recently so I've downloaded an extension to do so.

Chris Tyson has started 'life-saving' hormone replacement therapy

Chris Tyson, 26, who says he uses any pronouns, revealed how his physical appearance 'has already started to change' after two months of hormone replacement therapy treatment.

I'd be more concerned that there's a kids YouTube channel called Mr Beast.

AndTheSurveySays · 14/04/2023 11:25

Chris Tyson has made some grim twitter comments- saying lolli makes his dick hard and commenting that a child looks good for 4 years old.

Wanderingowl · 14/04/2023 11:27

It's not a kids' youtube channel it's a philanthropic entertainment channel. The creator, Mr Beast, Jimmy Donaldson, makes money on youtube then gives it away in entertaining ways, making more money and giving that away, and on and on. He recently paid for thousands of sight restoring surgeries for Americans that couldn't afford it. And twenty thousand pairs of shoes for South African children who didn't have shoes to walk to school in. So know, his youtube name isn't any sort of issue. What a very, very odd comment.

WTF!

Thelittlekingdom · 14/04/2023 11:36

There’s a lot on Twitter about Chris at the moment. Some of his past comments have been extremely grim and unpleasant. I feel very sorry for his family and his son. If I was Jimmy (Mr Beast), I’d also be quite worried about the association with Chris given some of what he’s come out with and that a lot of kids watch the channel. A crop top, long hair and that awful headband do not make a woman.

Just read about this man on reduxx, so disturbing, his poor ex and kid.

Says it all [bleurgh]

taracetamol · 14/04/2023 11:59

Always with the anime.

1stTimeMama · 14/04/2023 12:19

My kids love Mr Beast, and I think he does really great things but this isn't something I want them involved in. Especially the potential for them to read his Tweets, the things he has written are awful.

I've blocked the 4 of his channels that I'm aware of. On my own accounts and devices as well as my DS'. And I've mentioned to DS that there is some odd stuff going on with Mr Beast at the moment so it's best that he doesn't watch for a little while. He's always understood that it's my responsibility to make sure that the youtube he watches is safe for him to watch and that he has to accept it if I say no to a channel. He's accepted it but I'm still glad they are blocked.

(the over accentuated YouTube voice over on this makes my teeth itch but it’s a good summary of the situation without going as far as the Reduxx article).

Why Chris Will Soon Be A Nightmare For MrBeast

Chris Tyson has been in a bit of hot water recently, and there have been plenty of videos on that, but how will this drama effect MrBeast? Is this going to b...

Always with the anime.

It's always baffled me [not really] if transness is, as claimed, innate and has been part of the human experience for thousands of years, why Very Online anime types are so over-represented in trans culture 🤔

Thelittlekingdom · 14/04/2023 13:17

Interesting video but god the accent.

I liked Mr Beast - my kids watched his videos years ago and it seems he’s stuck especially if he doesn’t agree on Chris’ transition. Some of Chris’ tweets are grim and I’m glad him and his wife are separated so he’s not stuck as his emotional support human.

Things like this make me really worried about my sons doing any sort of gaming or having internet access. They're all aware of anime as a genre ('cartoons.') they all get into Pokémon I've noticed in y5. It's not as straightforward as saying no social media or phones till older; its all is just around and about and they'll fall down rabbit holes when older. It's really hard to know how to navigate it.

WarriorN · 14/04/2023 13:54

Have to say I hate YouTube and banned YouTube kids after Ds1's behaviour changed after watching it. He can binge all he wants on cbbc and play fifa.

My DS is extremely game/tech oriented, so I give this a huge amount of thought and do a lot of research.

  1. Gaming, especially communal gaming can be quite good for children, especially boys. As it gives them outlets for strategic team work that most boys have a strong need for. (Not all boys will need it and some girls will, but overall it can be potentially very positive for boys.)
  1. With this in mind I have strict rules about who DS can interact with and 'friend' online. Ie, only people he or I know in real life and that I have confirmed are genuinely that person. And I explain to him why. Just like we teach our kids why they should never get in a car with someone. I've thought him that real predators can pretend to be children online.
  1. I monitor the YouTube channels he watches and pay enough attention that I can talk to him about those youtubers enough to discuss what I like and don't like about them. He knows that if I have concerns about a channel he isn't to watch it. But that I'll always talk to him as much as he wants about why.
  1. I try to pay enough attention to what's happening in the world of influencers and content creators. So when things like this Chris Tyson situation arise, I have an idea fairly quickly and can decide what to do.
  1. We talk about social issues, including gender ideology. And he has even started to watch some of the content I watch which is discussing social messaging in media. He has become very canny about seeing that himself and has unprompted finished watching a movie and commented on the same agenda that I noticed in the story. Kids are a hell of a lot smarter than they are given credit for.
  1. Offline DS does real life gaming like Pokemon TCG and is in a coding club. So I have a strict rule that he has to have other social physical exercise hobbies. I know from my nerdy youth how insular some nerdy boys/men can get and that there was almost always a stark difference between the young men who also had sporty/physical hobbies and those who only did gaming. So I'm going to do everything I can to ensure he's the former.

Good tops @Wanderingowl!

I found that gaming really affected my DS’s moods but that careful selection of games mitigated it (ones that required repetitive attempts at completing a level made him very angry but world exploring was much less frustrating)

Luckily his main interests have been skateboarding and drumming (electronic kit with headphones!) so he was both physical and motivated to go outdoors.

I’ve been fairly horrified by stories re: grooming within games like Minecraft and I’ve also ended up paying far more attention to online and gaming culture than I would of my own volition.

My mum friends think I’m a bit paranoid due to all my warnings about anime and other connected interests, but oh well!

EmotionalSupportHyena · 14/04/2023 15:11

Tips not tops!

WarriorN · 14/04/2023 16:00

Thank you @Wanderingowl, excellent tips and we are actually doing all of those.

We allow a lot of minecraft stuff with a close mate of his while they zoom each other. It's very sweet what they build and chat about. I quite like minecraft. (I've never taught so many kids who understood what dying cloth entails ir how copper weathers Grin) But not unknown randoms online. It's also in the most busy area of the house for both children.

WarriorN · 14/04/2023 16:00

And they do a lot of sport together and with others

Righthandcider · 14/04/2023 16:14

Another one who suddenly went for it after the birth of their child. It seems sadly common - either as a trigger or because now they have a child they can fulfil their ultimate fantasy as a 'mother'.

Ezra Furman did the same.

Also calls to mind Emma Bryn's video about her father where she says he only had her to serve as a prop to his desire to be a mother.

My Dad was an Autogynephile - Emma Bryn - Hidden Voices

Emma grew up with a dad who was an Autogynephile (AGP), ie his main, perhaps only interest in life was in himself as a woman, and the associated clothes, acc...

Wow… I feel very unsettled as I’m part of the Very Online & Gaming subculture ( minus anime). Haven’t had time for YouTube in the last 7-8 months though.

When I saw the title I thought it would be Karl (is he the guy blamed for egging Chris on?)

I’m not surprised the fans are responding so strongly - they’ve “known” Chris for years, seen hundreds upon hundreds of videos with him, and what they are being told now doesn’t check out.

Chris won’t be able to rewrite history with so much of his old self online.
He’s neither gay, or bi, or trans. He is an ordinary man who’s consumed too much of the wrong content, allowed himself to be influenced by malicious online edgelords, and likely watched increasingly degenerate content to get his rocks off. To end with a Very Online meme, “Many such cases”.

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 22/07/2024 21:47

Allegations on Twitter that he was inappropriately messaging a 13 year old.

Seems like he groomed this child with messages about porn and hentai and not only that but they met up for sex when the boy was 16 and he was 23. another man who abandoned his family to live out his porn induced fantasies. Sick.

Hermittrismegistus · 23/07/2024 01:43

Seems it's that thing that never happens, happening again.
