Disappointed to read author was pressurised to add a trans woman character to The Power

The Power is a great feminist novel from a few years ago. I was looking forward to the tv series and I am enjoying it so far. Disappointed to see the author was apparently pressurised to add a trans woman to a story about teenage girls getting super powers.

Vox is amazing. I sat and read it in one sitting the other day. I may even have told the author!

I thought the book was interesting and really like the series. I wonder if the series will show medication being developed to supress oestrogen, and then what that means for human reproduction. They might round the women up and put them in faraday cages?. It's going to be quite different from the book. I think the book is about our relationship to power, how destructive it is. So the author could have chosen any oppressed group to get the skeins, it just happens she chose women. What's interesting is how abusive power makes people, and how that shows up oppressive systems as they work currently.
