Let Women Speak event, Dublin

Dublin Let Women Speak event scheduled for 15th March is now postponed due to safety concerns.

Disappointing, but not surprising, given the threats issued by panti piss and the TRA mob. Gardai will already be stretched because of Biden's visit so probably can't guarantee Kellie-Jay's safety given what happened in NZ.

Hmm. Pity. From what I've seen online Dublin was going to be quite well attended.

SealHouse · 31/03/2023 16:55

Hopefully it will be re-scheduled.

Tbh I was a bit apprehensive about it re the potential for violence but had made up my mind to go along. Part of me thinks that what’s required to wake up useless Irish politicians and media is a clear demonstration of what these violent misogynistic TRA’s are capable of - although obviously I would hate for anyone to be hurt.

It’s really disgraceful that in 2023 women need police protection just to speak up and air our concerns.

HI OP,
I had also decided to go, but like you I was still nervous because of the potential backlash. But that's what they want really, for us to stay away and be afraid.
I'm in awe of Posie and her strength against all the horribleness she faces, so really want to support her. I can't make it to Belfast, but I hope when it is rescheduled in Dublin there will be a good crowd and the gardai will be there.

Farmageddon · 31/03/2023 17:01

Just saw panti piss 😂what a turd he is.

I can't believe I used to think he was pretty harmless. I even attended a drag show in the George (or maybe it was the Dragon) about 10 years ago or more along with some gay friends. At the time I didn't think much about it, now I look back and cringe...

SealHouse · 31/03/2023 17:06

😂credit for that one goes to @Mommymoments on the Leo / Barbie Kardashian thread! Agree, he gives me the creeps.

Hopefully all goes well in Belfast on the 16th, we can't let them intimidate us.

Anybody going to Belfast? I’ll be getting the Terf Train from Connolly

SealHouse · 31/03/2023 17:36

I won't make Belfast but see from Twitter there should be a good crowd going up. I'll definitely be in Dublin when it's rescheduled.

Terf Train 😂

nepeta · 31/03/2023 17:40

Yes, the sad thing about cancelling the event due to security concerns still causes what the tras want, i.e., our silence.

Boiledbeetle · 31/03/2023 17:40

SealHouse · 31/03/2023 17:37

Terf Train 😂

Well, if the rainbow community can have an intersex train we can certainly have a TERF train. and there's more chance of a terf being on any given train than there is of a person with DSD being on the intersex train!

SealHouse · 31/03/2023 17:45

True!

Trains and feminists are a powerful combination.

MostUnreasonable · 31/03/2023 23:11

@VaddaABeetch I am! I was going to Dublin, but if it's cancelled then Belfast it is. Is there an official Terf train yet? I'm totally in, I'll bring biscuits.

Joolsin · 31/03/2023 23:16

I was going to Dublin, can't make Belfast, but am definitely going to Dublin if it's rescheduled. Can just about accept Biden's visit as being justification for the postponement, but the Gardai better be up to policing LWS properly when it goes ahead.

VaddaABeetch · 01/04/2023 01:40

It occurred to me will the TRAs be on the train? Will Irish rail keep us seperate?

If you could afford it I'd be booking the first class carriage. I don't think their student loans would stretch to that!

Iflyaway · 01/04/2023 02:17

15th March?

I'm confused.

HirplesWithHaggis · 01/04/2023 02:27

15 April. OP got the month wrong, easy mistake to make.

HalfMast · 01/04/2023 02:41

I’m not sure they want us all to shut up, I think some of them just want an excuse to be aggressive and violent towards women. So they get off on us fighting back. Obviously that doesn’t change that women need to keep doing this, but I think there’s definitely a contingent that couldn’t give a shit about the trans movement but are loving the opportunity to appear righteous while indulging themselves in VAWG.

I kinda doubt Irish rail is prepared, but hopefully I'm wrong.
I also just realised that I'd just name changed so have no posting history and probably seem rather suspicious. 😅Not a TRA trying to infiltrate, promise (just what a TRA trying to infiltrate would say?)

Yeah sorry, typo in my post, it was scheduled for 15th April

I'm not sure you can keep members of the public off public transport tbh

VaddaABeetch · 01/04/2023 16:08

@smallbutfaraway it was a joke. I don’t give a shiny shite if a TRA wants to sit beside me.
