Pokémon player disqualified over pronouns

Last weekend there was a large Pokemon competition in the US. A 17 yo boy was about to play his match and it was going to be streamed over the internet. Before the match started he was asked his pronouns and laughed (he's says) nervously which then happened on another occasion.
The boy was then disqualified and ejected from the tournament space.

Poor kid. Unfortunate name though, given the spurious reason he was disqualified.

Disappointed but not entirely surprised in the present climate. Gotta Capture them All. 🙄

Wow. Doesn’t matter what you actually did, just matters what they. Yep, that’s how trans activists want the rules to be all right.

Poor kid. No right to a fair hearing, no appeal, no refund for time or travel just thrown out on the whim of a transperson for not being obsequious enough.

The player concerned doesn't want any more publicity or for his experience to be used to stoke a culture war.

I'm not surprised he doesn't want more publicity, he's probably terrified of being targeted by trans activists. But from the sound of it he has good support to back him up if the TRAs get more nasty.
