Amazing. Brave women. More power to them.

Datun · 30/03/2023 13:34

I'm guessing the strategy is to take it to the wire until the police fucking do their fucking job.

fromorbit · 30/03/2023 13:51

Should be a major one after the last few weeks.

Claire Fox, Baroness of Buckley will be in attendance on April 2nd at 3 pm. She recently denounced attempts to silence women at Speaker's Corner in the House of Lords and questioned the failure of the Police.

On Easter Sunday Posie Parker will be at #LetWomanSpeak at Speakers Corner, 9th April 1pm for an Easter Special!

Things are going to get lively this Sunday to say the least as the mostly male regulars at Speaker's Corner, a real mix of religions, political views, and conspiracy theorists, are increasingly backing women's right to speak. They all have different views, many which we are not going to agree with, but only one thing unites them - they all believe in free speech and debate - which the Anti Women's Rights Activists of course want to end for women first, and everyone else afterwards. We saw some this culture clash play out as male Marxists and Muslims started trying to debate the Anti Women's Rights Activists last Sunday.

Now there are more men around the AWRAs may back off a little. After all they are mainly interested in stopping women speaking. We shall see.

If you can't go spread the word online.

The Suffragettes used to gather to speak in huge demonstrations in Hyde Park from all over the country. This is what Women are defending .

It was at Speaker's Corner that Maria MacLachlan was assaulted while trying to speak up for her rights by a "trans" person Tara Fox in 2017. For the last 8 years violence and intimidation has been used to try to silence women in Hyde Park, but guess what those pesky women keep on saying things.

I saw this mentioned elsewhere but unfortunately they haven't updated their web site which is a shame.

Sometimes people who are on twitter need to remember that it is the least used social media platform!

Same as the demo outside the NZ Consulate.

Many other women might well have joined in (although not many can make a week day lunchtime but a saturday).

Without being cyncial now is the time to capitalise on the shocking events in NZ which have undoubtedly reached a far wider group than previously, to what is really going on.

It would be great if a really large group attended not just those who know each other on twitter, to show support and to participate. Hopefully without being intimidated. (Has the youtube "auditor" been told?!)

But of course having it as a thread title on FWR is probably the best outreach.

(I did see on the web site that events are planned for both Dublin and Belfast so might be worth amplifying that on this forum closer to the date.)

@fromorbit: Slight correction for the sake of pure pedantry. Maria Mac was assaulted by THREE men, one of whom was Tara Wolf aka Tannis. The other two have never been formally identified. She was at Speakers Corner waiting to go on to an undisclosed destination because the previously booked venue cancelled after being harassed and threatened. No speeches were made there at SC on the day. From memory it was organised by Venice Allan. This is the single event which alerted me to what had been going on. My peak moment as it were.

BlackForestCake · 30/03/2023 18:14

Mine too. For me it has always been the simple demand that women have political freedom to say what they want, without being beaten by men.

That well known nazi slogan 🤔

@BitterAndOnlySlightlyTwisted Thanks for the extra detail. It was certainly a key event in peaking people, other landmarks are now coming in quick now. The latest developments are interesting. Sounds like the Police will be doing more this time.

Have just that apparently the Dublin LWS has been cancelled due to safety concerns.

Not seen if this has been confirmed.

If true I wonder whether that if police recommendation or LWS - though do wonder whether her family, who must have been really scared for her, have asked her to be safe.

Whatever the reason, it means male violence has won. Shame

IwantToRetire · 31/03/2023 00:05

My mam, fiancé and I were going to go to the Dublin event. We're sad to see it won't happen, but KJK is such a brave and admirable woman! The way she is treated with hate and violence from those who claim to preach love and tolerance is abhorrent! The media, law enforcement and politicians are as much to blame for the way that they stood back, watched it all unfold and then got right back to lying and spurring on hate. History will remember. The tide will turn.

Well, let’s hope the Met keep their word. Unlike the police in Auckland. The women had been liaising with the police for weeks about how they agreed to protect the women attending. It appears they were instructed to stand down without reference to the organisers. The politicians in NZ are scum

postop · 31/03/2023 03:23

This is the interview with the woman, Linda, who had liaised with the police in preparation for the event in Auckland.

I hope it works - links have been a bit strange on MN recently.

Ooooh, is this likely to go on for some time?

I will be in London over August and would love to see a bit of real live feminism/free speech stuff in action!

ISpyCobraKai · 31/03/2023 11:05

Just booked a megabus ticket to be there on Easter Sunday.

Has this been posted? Clip of Clare Fox in the House of Lords raising the issue of the police's lack of policing. https://twitter.com/JWMW_2023/status/1640765812423229458

Christ. That's disgusting. 'We're not here to protect you'. What are they there for then?? To gloat?

IwantToRetire · 31/03/2023 15:56

Sorry if I missed this info, but have just checked https://www.standingforwomen.com/events to see if there is an update about why the Dublin event was cancelled (in fact it says postponed) but there is no info about weekly meetings.

And I see the web site says The events below are the only official Posie Parker Let Women Speak events, hosted by Posie Parker.

So are the weekly meetings organised by someone else? Hopefully with PP's agreement.

So much of her work has been appropriated it just made me wonder.

Justme56 · 31/03/2023 15:59

I thought and I could be wrong that Dublin was postponed because Biden is visiting at the same time. It means that the police will be busy with his safety and won’t have the manpower for the Dublin event.

IwantToRetire · 31/03/2023 16:16

Dublin was postponed because Biden

Somebody speculated that, but it still illustrates that women cant arrange to meet up and exchange information and experiences with each other, because TRAs and incels will demonstrate. ie that women meeting up - in public - need "protection" (not that the police do that).

If it was a WI meeting or the like, no one would even be thinking about protection.

Thanks for that info. That's the problem with thinking that twitter reaches everyone!
