Sky news story about an athletics competition. the other side of the story is finally being told! How it's not about the rights of the transgender person, but about the rights of the girls to have fair competitions.

Sky news story about an athletics competition where a trans athlete beat all the girls. Finally someone saying it's not fair on the girls. Oh and apparently a new record was set but won't be recognised.

It's about time this was recognised.

What they have not said is where this person got changed, some of the women who were forced to change with Lia Thomas have spoken up saying they did not give their consent to be naked in front of a man.

Unfortunately, the only place this will be truthfully reported with mention of the unfairness to female competitors is on Sky News. Other media outlets won’t touch it, except to repeatedly trumpet how stunning and brave the trans person is. Female participation is pointless, female rights are being completely trashed. It is pathetic.

mummywithtwokidsplusdog · 29/03/2023 07:08

It is so unfair… I thought athletics was one of the sports that said only biological females in woman/girl races etc? Or is that just for elite athletes? If that is the case how will young girls ever reach elite level if they can never win?!

I don’t know how wide an audience this will receive in Australia? I hope a large one. Maybe more people will start to understand what KJK came to talk about. I really appreciate that the trans athlete is spoken about with consideration and respect, but firmly in the context of the unfairness to the girls

"It's as simple as that. "

Agreed.

IdaGoodnight · 29/03/2023 07:29

Clear and unambiguous. Thank you Sky Aus. Please bring this type of reporting to the UK, Sky. Shame our other channels with their lack of coverage, deliberately confusing language, and lack of impartiality.

It took years here. One article at a time finding its way out, being howled down and everything labelled for daring to not unconditionally spit on women and not trumpet for the male involved.

But the trickle builds. Now we have frequent hard hitting articles, and no debate is over. We do have insane screaming crowds around women talking about their rights, with death and rape threats. <Looks at PM. Waits for some kind of appropriate reaction>

Nope, that bit we're still waiting on.

Had a look at ABC's news website (Australia's equivalent to BBC) - nothing on the main page. I then specifically looked under the sports section.... and still nothing. Not a bloody thing. Shame on you ABC.

The ABC would never report this negatively, and if they thought it would be received negatively, they would just refuse to report it at all.

The ABC is still reporting that KJK is an “anti-trans activist” who has the support of extremist hate groups, they are still piling on Moira Deeming, and are still completely in the thrall of gender ideology. All the media is….

Boiledbeetle · 29/03/2023 09:10

Each of these news items helps.

It reminds me of the story the biggest turnip. Sooner or later enough people will be pulling on the turnip.

This may still not be getting mentioned on most mainstream news, but so many people now realising they've been lied to will turn to other news sources. And once you've gone from your TV or your newspaper to looking online there is so much proof people have been lied to that people will reach the top of the mountain very quickly.

Helleofabore · 29/03/2023 09:26

Yeah. I despair about the ABC on reporting this or at least reporting it in a balanced way.

Igmum · 29/03/2023 17:00

Well done Sky News (not something I thought I would be writing 20 years ago). I like your optimism Nilsmousehammer. More sunlight please
