Male rugby player told no

No, as a hulking male player, you can't play on the women's team.

This is hate apparently.

Male entitlement on a rugby shirt. With a side helping of victim mentality.

Nothing stopping this bloke from playing on the men's Veterans team.

Boo hoo. Not being allowed to endanger the safety of women in contact sport is soooooo oppressive.

Westfacing · 19/03/2023 11:05

I know of an under-18s team that some big male hulk, who self-identifies on certain days, is pushing to join.

TroothBeeToaled · 19/03/2023 11:14

The bloke has designed this shirt himself.
A bargain at £30.

I'm not sure who his target audience are though. I don't think I'd like to walk around in a shirt that has images of blood on it, that suggests protecting women is 'hate'.

I wonder if it comes in size Men's XXXL?

Thelnebriati · 19/03/2023 12:00

Did he mean to design a face with a black eye and bloody nose?

Palmfrond · 19/03/2023 13:00

The RFU or whoever it is who makes the rules was commendably quick to put the kibosh on men trying to play women’s rugby, on safety grounds, so good for them 👏

bluedomino · 19/03/2023 13:20

It's a thinly disguised attempt to hurt as many women as they can. Imagine being cheered for breaking a women's nose/leg/back. They are violent misogynistic abusers.

backinthebox · 19/03/2023 13:29

Pretty sure that breaches intellectual property rights on brand names and images. I have a family member high up in O2 who could get a ‘cease and desist’ notice out. It would not be an act of hate to demand this T-shirt not be produced, you simply cannot use a trademark without the owner’s permission.

IcakethereforeIam · 19/03/2023 13:53

As well as previous posters comments on the appearance of the shirt, to me it looks like it's smirking and winking. And sinister clown vibes.

I expect he did.

Brightshinylight · 19/03/2023 15:13

A man got told 'no' so he has decided he is a victim of hate crime now. That is ridiculous and totally pathetic.

All about him isn't it. No concern about the amount of physical harm he could do to a woman. Self entitlement at its best.

raspberrywine · 19/03/2023 15:21

It's so sly to say there's a ban on to stop men who say they are women playing rugby. Look, there's a category just for you, with the other men. Have at it. No one is stopping you.

Madamecastafiore · 19/03/2023 15:46

God can't you tell it's a man without the back story. Here are us WOMEN asking for dark coloured clothes so we can not be embarrassed by the fact that the blood we discharge every month is so bloody obvious and yet they're plugging their little male sob story by smearing blood across white shirts.

Please let them know about this ASAP!

PuttingDownRoots · 19/03/2023 15:50

I read yesterday that in France they are allowed to play with the women apparently!

Needmoresleep · 19/03/2023 16:01

There is a corker of an article in this month's Forty Twenty magazine (Rugby League) with a full bingo card of trans sports science and quotes from Joanna Harper.

The word "inclusive" does some heavy lifting on behalf of transwomen.

FrancescaContini · 19/03/2023 16:03

Nasty thug

Helleofabore · 19/03/2023 16:07

I thought it was someone’s bleeding anus. I am sure that O2 will be happy about this distortion of the brand as will English Rugby.

Just spotted this.
This is Mr rugby-player-t-shirt-creator.
How very true

My O2 family member is on the case. O2 will definitely not tolerate this.

Interesting!
I do think it is an Inflammatory design for a shirt, and really not helping his cause either. But self awareness is not a strong suit it seems.

If I were the RFU or O2, I'd not be happy.

Omg! This person obviously doesn't see the irony of wearing this tshirt!

Yes you are EXACTLY what we are worried about playing against!!

This. Can't fathom anyone who thinks otherwise!

RealityFan · 21/03/2023 11:28

It's all a healthy slice of wish fulfillment, a garnish of victim entitlement, with a side order of humiliating and silencing women, all covered in a cloying sauce of full-on gaslighting.
Amazingly this dish is recommended and promoted by the Angela Rayner/Lisa Nandy/Stella Creasy types of the "new enlightened".

CryptoFascistMadameCholet · 22/03/2023 08:23

I only just realised yesterday that Ross Tucker of the excellent Science of Sport podcast’s day job is as a scientist for World Rugby.

His science-first approach and keen and genuine interest in Women’s Sport is no doubt a big reason that World Rugby has been so clear on the matter.

Shame that so many of the nation orgs are still fannying about with inclusion over fairness & safety.

That T shirt is gross, both in intent and execution. Can’t decide which is most offensive, the idea or the shitty design.

As for the warning T shirt, it’s like something out of an extremely black comedy.
