Not masses of detail on this yet, but it's good to see the issue at least on the table.

I think the police are often the poster boy of toxic masculinity. How will they handle it? Advise a uniform and institutionalising that misogyny.

Police Scotland do as their told and follow the snp agenda. They will fuck it up like they do with most initiatives.

Anyone who has been paying attention to the impact of existing hate crime legislation will be worried about any attempt by Police [noun] to police [verb] misogyny.

I predict women being hauled in for telling men that penis = male.

SomeHorribleMamsnetter · 17/03/2023 07:58

Addressing misogyny in the force is half of this report.

Glad it is getting some attention in Scotland at least, in England the Tories are only interested in protecting statues, not women.

Will be very difficult given the attitudes in the police themselves, but incel culture is a real threat to our way of life, to women's safety and to the happiness of many men.

Yes, although Humza's new Hate Crime Bill is currently stalled, as I understand it, partly because the police have said they can't enforce it.

I like how they drop in at the end that Scottish police vetting processes are in a worse state than England after spending months denighing that there was a problem and that they needed look at their vetting after Sarah Everard only giving in under public pressure and now we hear that over 100 officers have been reported in a year (different article) but hay they'll give them misogyny training 🤨🤬

They don't need misogyny training. They already know how to be a misogynist.

I am at a loss for words- both at the actions of the men involved and the reaction of senior officers.

At least the Tories know what women are

I hate to be so cynical, but the word 'misogyny' is in the process of being re defined.

As the word 'homophobic' already has been, so that it no longer has any link to actually homosexual people.

Oddly enough, the meaning always changes to the same thing: essentially the crime of having presented a boundary to the absolute freedoms of someone male. (By things like implying that you have equality of human rights, or you don't want to be used by them, just for an example.) It's a new, fun way to weaponise the police.
