Police have launched an investigation into claims that firefighters at Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Service on more than one occasion photographed women who had died in car accidents.
While women in the service are subjected to sexual harassment, dick pics from colleagues.

utterly grim bastards. Wonder how many will stay in the job.

Utterly reprehensible. Disgusting individuals

Twentynone21 · 31/01/2023 19:15

This doesn’t surprise me. I think this is prevalent in services with lots of male workers although, I hope it has improved. I worked for an ambulance service years ago, one of the watch commanders loved asking what colour underwear female workers were wearing. The men working on the helicopter service carried photos of mutilated bodies in their wallets from calls they had attended, they loved getting them out to shock you. It was grim. They certainly weren’t NHS heroes.

Ofgs. Is there no depths that men won’t sink to to get a perverse kick

UrsulaPandress · 31/01/2023 19:18

Grim gits.

trythisforsize · 31/01/2023 19:18

For some reason I am so much more shocked, angry and f*ing disappointed about this than the stories about police misogyny. Like I kind of knew some police must be neanderthal power seeking arseholes, kind of goes with the territory - but firefighters?
There is no hope for men ever growing the fuck up.

Apparently not.

Police have done it before most recently with nicole smallman and Bibaa Henry, now firefighter are seemingly in on the act. Makes you wonder just how widespread it is.

"Police have launched an investigation*

Well that doesn't fill me with confidence, they're as bad if not worse for utterly depraved behaviour.

EsmaCannonball · 31/01/2023 21:36

It's horrible. It's the total pornification of society and women. First we hear about police officers taking demeaning photographs of murdered women or sending jokey memes from the site where a woman was murdered by one of their own, then there are the cases of hospital workers and undertakers sexually violating the bodies of dead women, and now it's the fire service. Even when you die in tragic or horrific circumstances men will find ways of reducing you to a dirty joke. It's pretty damning to men that we not only have to worry about how they will treat us, our female relatives and female friends when alive but also when we're dead.

Oh, and it's yet another example of how if men can get away with something, men will do that something.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 31/01/2023 22:00

So depressing but predictable.

LizzieSiddal · 31/01/2023 22:06

This was reported on our local news, it’s just so abhorrent and sick to death of these men and those around them who allow it to happen.

LizzieSiddal · 31/01/2023 22:09

It’s on ITV news now, Paul Brand is the reporter, interesting, I wonder if he’s learnt anything about women’s safety and dignity.

inkjet · 31/01/2023 22:09

It’s like whatever else is going on, be it running a film empire or attending fatal car crashes, these men always have one eye on degrading women.

I was just pondering on the irony of his very good reporting of this alongside his determination to remove safe single sex spaces for women , including women firefighters.

NeverTrustAPoliceman · 31/01/2023 22:15

I'm done with men today. They can all fuck off.

IcakethereforeIam · 31/01/2023 22:25

I remember watching a TV programme years ago and a guy talking about the work he did in Mountain rescue, if they were called to a fatality they'd make jokes about the casualty. At least they didn't have phone cameras back then.

I've thought well they're volunteers, it's whistling past the graveyard. But It didn't sit well with me, it's haunted me actually.

Is it because it's not manly to show emotion, especially in front of your 'bros'. These jobs attract psychos I think.

UrsulaPandress · 31/01/2023 22:26

Oh that’s disappointing about Mountain Rescue. Don’t why I hoped they’d be better but 🤷‍♀️

unclebuck · 31/01/2023 22:33

There may be an element of "gallows humour" in some situations, especially in the forces more so than emergency services, to ease tension but that is very very different to talking about victims underwear and making sexualised comments, that is depraved and utterly different.

AnyFucker · 31/01/2023 22:35

Ha bloody ha

Quite.

Lucylock · 31/01/2023 22:42

How reassuring that the mysoginistic police are going to investigate this. I am sure that will be total impartial, if not an attempt to deflect from their own pile of shit.

I'd love to say I'm surprised but I'm not. Sad for the decent officers and firefighters, but many are from the same stock. Brain dead, neanderthal men who operate in packs and see women as sexual figures and nothing more. Even dead in a car makes her fair game.

DirtyDuchess · 31/01/2023 22:43

I heard this on the radio this evening and my stomach turned over. Beyond sickening.

Boiledbeetle · 31/01/2023 23:12

Just watched it.

Disgusting bastards.

This just gets more rife as the years pass not less.

Some of these threads need linking on the long-running AIBU thread about college/rapist.

More women need to see just how horrendous things are, just how low it’s got.

More women and decent men need to be absolutely up in arms about this.

WE DO NOT WANT MALES IN FEMALE SPACES. THEY DO NOT BELONG IN OUR SPACES.

This.

Oh, and it's yet another example of how if men can get away with something, men will do that something.

And they wonder why we’re pushing back hard on men demanding access to women’s spaces.

THIS IS WHY.
