Thank you for that share. I like the comparison between Sturgeon and McLeish.

Excellent article. Thank you for sharing.

That's a superb article from Massie. All laid bare, Stonewall, Scottish Trans Alliance, the Equality Network. There should be an Independent Public Inquiry as to how women's human rights were removed so easily.

VivietteConstantine · 30/01/2023 22:00

Definitely should be a public enquiry!

"What a disgrace it all is".

Indeed.

It is also important to reiterate that the law as it stands protects trans people with a gender recognition certificate from association with people such as Bryson or Scott.

I’ve seen similar to this in a few places recently - “but not nice trans people, they can have GRC and invade women’s spaces”. No! Nice men don’t force their way into women’s spaces. The GRA must be repealed. Mem can never be women however ‘nice’ or ‘genuine’ they are.

Don’t worry - rather than ensure the government they are part of offers a decent fully funded pay settlement, the Greens are going to take the day off parliamentary work in solidarity.

Oops wrong thread

From the article:

Neither of these decisions was an accident and neither should be forgiven. Each was predictable and predicted. The first minister has spent years arguing her critics’ views are “not valid” only to have her own position refuted by reality. This was not an aberration. This was the policy working as it was designed to. Ministers are embarrassed because they were found out, not because they have belatedly come to their senses.

It is crucial to understand that the prison service has effectively operated on a self-ID basis for years. In this respect, the government’s gender recognition reforms largely bring the law into line with current practice. To see the future, then, you need only look at the prison service now.
