Resignation letter from SWA. I was suspended and investigated for raising safeguarding concerns. They couldn't sack me but there is no way I could continue to work for them.

(Although it was a bit of a reality check to see her refer to that fact that trans women have been included in the work of SWA for years)

we should always support women's right to discuss politics whether we agree with them or not, rather than silencing them, lurking on social media and using slurs

sounds like scottish women's aid has become the traditional shit show you get when the ideologues move in

Incredibly angry and sad to see this. It must have been a difficult but entirely understandable decision. WA could do with rethinking their position in prioritising men and handmaidens while supposedly supporting women.

How depressing.

Women spent years building and fundraising for rape and dv shelters and these ideologues have ruined it.

I hope the court case against the rape shelter in Brighton that is refusing to provide a female only counselling service is successful.

Hard as it is to believe some women, not because of funding pressure, but growing up in the era of trans mythology, no longer value the protection of women only safe spaces.

In fact (and maybe as a result of the criticism of Edinburgh RCC misadvertising) SWA no longer advertises vacancies as being exempt under the EA.

They say:

" ... SWA staff and volunteers are women only: this includes anyone who self- identifies. Many roles in the domestic abuse sector have an occupational requirement that they are held by women. However, this does not allow employers to discriminate on any other grounds: all women, including women with the protected characteristic of gender reassignment, may apply for women-only roles. SWA employees and volunteers must be selected on merit regardless of personal history, with the ethos of welcoming participation of women from diverse backgrounds into SWA roles, including transgender women. ... "

So at least they are being honest.

But I wonder just how many women in Scotland are aware of this.

Or indeed what other groups in what is known as the Women's Sector are aware of this.

Wnat is so insulting is that they have basically colonised an existing organisation set up specifically to provide women only services, and have corrupted that to match their belief system.

And decent group of human being would have created their own place. But the lure of government money made it so much easier to be a parasite leaching off the backs of women's work.

Well they are misrepresenting the equality act as it allows discrimination on the basis of gender reassignment with and without a grc for rape crisis centres so them implying that they can't discriminate against transwomen by refusing to employ them for a role that has an occupational requirement for a woman ffs
