www.skysports.com/athletics/news/12040/12792423/world-athletics-proposes-tighter-rules-for-transgender-women-athletes

In a nutshell it seems world athletics are set to allow transgender athletes to compete against women, but with new rules, stopping short of a complete ban. They are currently consulting with their member federations.

It was also reported in the telegraph but is behind a paywall.

Shockingly shortsighted in my opinion and makes you wonder what incentive there will be for women to continue to compete.

This is the exact subject which made me sit up and take notice of the whole trans thing. I suppose the think to do is to contact the relevant authorities and keep the pressure up.

I wonder if they even bothered asking current elite female athletes what they think with an option to answer questionnaires anonymously? I bet they didn’t.

SinnerBoy · 22/01/2023 16:21

Well, they've told Sharon Davies and Martina Navaratilova to shut up. I mean, even the former "Bruce" Jenner says it's wrong.

They have tried hard to hush the consultation up so it must be very annoying for them to see it splashed in the Telegraph. The backlash on Twitter is very strong. Zero support. The extraordinary thing is that they admit their preferred solution won’t remove all male advantage but they want to go ahead with it anyway. So basically they are giving a fat two fingers to female athletes. If this goes through women should simply refuse to compete. Why should they? It’s totally unfair and makes a mockery of their sport and them.

Women with that amount of testosterone would be investigated and barred as drug cheats.
A sacred caste indeed.

A number of episodes in 2021 on the subject, all of them interesting.
