I just came to see if there was a post about this!
Wonderful news

Dinosaurhearmeroar · 16/01/2023 18:22

Delighted! 😀

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 16/01/2023 18:27

Thank fuck for that.

Tbh I think Nicola sturgeon knew this would happen and so was happy to show herself as all pro trans rights knowing it'd go nowhere

whistleblown · 16/01/2023 18:30

Thank Fuck For That.

Idonotcareforcarrots · 16/01/2023 18:36

I’m in Scotland, never thought I’d be grateful to the Conservatives but as a woman THANK YOU.

2bazookas · 16/01/2023 18:37

Loud cheers from here in Scotland.

With luck this also spells the end of NS career.

WarriorN · 16/01/2023 18:44

Whoop!

OlleOskiFelle · 16/01/2023 18:45

Phew, from Scotland.

SueVineer · 16/01/2023 18:47

Yeah!! There’s another thread as well

UWhatNow · 16/01/2023 18:49

A welcome reprieve. Thank God for those bringing much needed illumination to this dangerous and pernicious ideology.

Oblomov22 · 16/01/2023 19:07

Good.

I agree that NS was almost daring Westminster to do this. It's "proof" she can leverage that England is blocking the "will" of the Scottish people (I'm aware it's no such thing). Whether she truly believes in the cause or it's a convenient "progressive" policy to jump on in opposition to evil Westminster is almost secondary.

Third thread but what a relief.

Agree. She'll get some new support for independence through this, but I think most people were concerned about GRA reforms and it fairly unpopular so a lot of people will be relieved.

Happy to hear this! VERY happy for the women in prisons and refuges.

duc748 · 16/01/2023 19:40

I watched the BBC news, and it did strike me that they covered the story in terms of the constitutional issues (Westminster v Scotgov). Yes, there a brief mention of single-sex spaces, but if I hadn't already been genned up on the topic 😛 I don't think I'd have inferred from that what all the fuss is about, and why it's so important.

And, they are still talking about people "changing their sex". 🙄
