All gathered to watch the film Adult Human Female with its maker Deidre O’Neill.
And despite their best efforts, the protesters didn’t find us.
Fantastic watch and if it can be done on Brighton, it can be done everywhere.

Brilliant 👏 well done

IcakethereforeIam · 14/01/2023 17:36

I've got a mental image from Scooby Doo of people, with blue hair, running across corridors.

Well done, despite those meddling kids!

ExiledElsie · 14/01/2023 18:03

Does this mean that the women of Brighton have got better at organising in secret? It's a win of sorts I suppose.

AtrociousCircumstance · 14/01/2023 18:03

Awesome 😊

morningtoncrescent62 · 14/01/2023 18:15

It's a win of sorts, but women need to be able to organise in the open. The right to meet in secret, never being sure if our meetings will be disrupted by aggressive protestors with all the anxiety that generates for organisers and attendees, isn't that great a right. However, given what's happened to previous attempts to screen this film, the Brighton gathering have done well. and I hope they enjoyed it.

Oh, 100% The Police need to be taken to task and punished, if they refuse to deal with the blue haired fascists.

Today was a tonic Wine

Thank you women of Brighton.

HilarysMantelpiece · 14/01/2023 20:53

Ah brilliant- well done!
But how ridiculous....utterly utterly ridiculous to have to gather in secret to watch a documentary!

SomethingLikeThisNow · 14/01/2023 21:03

Such a shame that women need to meet in secret to watch a movie in UK in 2023.

Those who would stop them should hang their head in shame.

lanadelgrey · 15/01/2023 14:29

It was a publicly organised event. Efforts to protest against it were in vain as were efforts to prevent venues from hosting the group. Not underground but carefully arranged and a success. We met without harassment, we watched, we talked and we went to the pub afterwards

ExiledElsie · 15/01/2023 15:13

Thanks for clarifying, I misunderstood the initial post. Glad the venue didn't back down, and that the protesters presumably aren't able to follow directions!

knitfastdieyoung · 15/01/2023 17:30

Can anyone tell me how we can watch it? Is it available on any streaming services?

ExiledElsie · 15/01/2023 20:56

It's here:

SomethingLikeThisNow · 16/01/2023 07:23

Thanks for the clarification. Hope other places/people can do a screening too.

TheirEminence · 31/01/2023 20:17

Sounds like various venues across Brighton received anonymous threats to ensure the film would not be shown:

What a great article, well done Brighton and Hove News for publishing it. The supportive comments are in the majority and articulate. The rest resort to name calling or unsubstantiated slurs.

Totally not sniggering at this headline, 'Tories pan Greens in motion on public toilets'.

YouJustDoYou · 31/01/2023 20:42

The fact that you even have to hide is frightening
