Stop trying to make razorblades under feminist stickers happen…

Because - despite claims on Twitter of a razorblade totally definitely being found under an Adult Human Female sticker in London - it’s never going to happen. (Shouldn’t need saying, but Because Current Year: any faked, staged, manipulated etc by TRAs wouldn’t count 🙄)

There have been a vanishingly few incidents of razorblades being placed under stickers - & they generally turn out to involve posters not stickers. With the bit where a razor blade is going to be bloody obvious under a sticker. Note a certain fibber is still in that Mail article, too. (A wee history of fascist sticker-blades is available here for those interested in the context.)

There are absolute dyed-in-the-wool TRAs pointing out that there’s no indication of there being anything under the sticker beyond [the crumpled edges of] another sticker & saying making such claims without grounds is harmful. Copping a load of abuse for their trouble, too, because positively gleeful “Nazis! They’re just Nazis!” style-comments dominate the responses - inevitably leading to calls for VAWG.

Note they’ve not mentioned anywhere alerting the police &/or Council as to this danger. But how silly of me, why would llyou when you can frighten those vulnerable trans people who will believe you; & you can stir up hatred for - & threats against - women [& girls]? Just think of all the lovely clout they stand to vacuum up from this…

If someone were to go & demonstrate an absence of razor blade I fear it wouldn’t be believed - there is such desperation for women to react with [threats of] violence it is quite disconcerting.

Interesting to see if they manage to gain any traction (if so, with whom) given other similar stories haven’t exactly ended well for the self-styled heroines. Absolute bundle of awesome Jenni Swain, by contrast, educated South Wales Police for free. And it really was quite the education she provided. Even without a specific stickerer being targeted (so far…) spreading these lies about women who use stickers as a form of protesting against gender ideology constitutes a threat to all women. Or perhaps, having even people on their own side say they’re chatting bubbles, they’ll delete it all & pretend it never happened.

A small moment of Twitter madness, perhaps - but as lots of FWR women have extensive collections of feminist stickers they might wish to be extra-cautious for a while; ditto those who engage in Hateful Haberdashery.

The thing about many of these people, is that they are very comfortable lying to get their own way. They don't really do that whole moral compass thing.

JellySaurus · 03/01/2023 10:08

Are the people making these claims actually invested in the ideology they claim to support? Or are they piggybacking on it because they like a fight? Are they stirring for the sake of it?

It seems TRAs often cause more harm than help for people with trans identities, and that TRAs are focused on male rights rather than trans rights. Trans rights are a convenient camouflage for misogyny.

JellySaurus · 03/01/2023 10:12

Rephrasing, in case certain people misinterpret and think I am spreading hate:

Are the people making these claims actually invested in the ideology they claim to support? Or are they piggybacking on it because they like a fight? Are they stirring for the sake of it?

It seems TRAs often cause more harm than help for people with trans identities, and that some TRAs are focused on male rights rather than trans rights. For some people 'trans rights' is nothing more than a convenient camouflage for misogyny.

It was sensible to archive that Twitter thread because the OP on it has, unsurprisingly, disappeared:

I think eventually a razor blade will be found under a sticker. It won't have been put there by a gender critical person, mind.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 03/01/2023 10:41

Agree, nauticant. I've been expecting that to happen for several years.

NitroNine · 04/01/2023 13:50

It’s my inner historian @nauticant. Or possibly my suspicious nature 😉

Obviously I am astonished that a helpful soul i. reporting the incident to the police for them & ii. pointing out that the area’s covered by CCTV caused the deletion of that Twitter account.

Sadly I think you & @Ereshkigalangcleg are right about the chances of a razor blade being “found”. We can but hope that the absolute failure of The Cardiff Fibber’s attempt (only a pity they weren’t charged for wasting police time) will serve as a deterrent.

So... TRAs are now setting out to prove that they really are wilfully blind?!?!

There's no razorblade in that picture.

I am utterly befuzzled by that. It's just weird! How do they reconcile reality with... ach! Forget it!

ShrillBill · 04/01/2023 15:13

I suspect Peregrine realised that if the police were called out to remove that sticker, they'd find no razor blade underneath.

TheClogLady · 04/01/2023 15:46

Have they SEEN the price of razor blades these days? 🙃

I seem to remember this happening in Manchester - British Transport Police had their time wasted…

God. They are exhausting.

NitroNine · 05/01/2023 06:07

@SamphiretheTervosaurReturneth

Maybe they realised the wee bit of scrunched-up sticker underneath the sticker of TERFery Terror identified as a razorblade. And they were Being Kind & Validating Its Lived Experience 🤔

I once stuck myself to the floor via a home waxing kit.

True story.

Ah, c’mon now @TheClogLady, you can’t leave us hanging like that!

TheClogLady · 06/01/2023 12:08

Ha! OK.

it was circa 1993 and I had never had a professional wax (too poor, too unbothered) but a friend had encouraged me to give it a go and left half a home wax kit at my flat.

I was home alone, bored, so I thought I’d give it a go and gamely slathered a big generous gloop of wax down my shin bone and applied the first fabric strip, only to find myself unable to actually pull it off myself (like pulling off a plaster only a hundred times worse).

While I was considering my options the phone rang and it being the 90s it was a house phone, and this being a rented flatshare the one house phone was kept on the upstairs landing. The landing wasn’t big enough for any furniture so we habitually sat on the floor to chat on the telephone.

So, off I trotted, to answer the ringing, only I didn’t think it through and knelt on the carpet to pick up the reciever. After about ten minutes of talking I realised I was utterly, utterly stuck, left-shin-to-landlord-carpet.

And there I stayed until my camp gay housemate came home from his job on the Selfridges perfume counter and soaked me off the floor with a car washing sponge and a bucket of hot soapy water.

I can still remember the exact sound of his cackling laughter and the intense pins and needles in my legs to this very day.

Turns out the hairy-legged feminists of my youth were sage and wise women and I’ve not gone anywhere near a home wax kit since!

IcakethereforeIam · 06/01/2023 12:17

When I waxed my legs it brought them up so nice I seriously considered trying it on the oven (not a euphemism).

@TheClogLady so funny, did you consider dialling 999?Grin

Oh yes!

NitroNine · 06/01/2023 21:57

Oh no @TheClogLady! Were you ok? Was the carpet ok? Had you a weird baldy bit of shin on one leg for a while? TBH after that I’d not blame you for giving candles a wide berth, never mind waxing!

<resolutely does not ask about @IcakethereforeIam’s hirsute oven>
