A woman who willingly aborts a child should be regarded in exactly the same way as a man who willingly commits rape

This is when you are glad that twitter is allowing some GC voices back, but wish that free speech didn't mean self entitled men could talk grossly offensive comments about women.

What an absolute shit

How does a man unwillingly commit rape?

taracetamol · 24/12/2022 21:34

I should have known this was a Laurence Fox quote.

Wonder what his opinion would be if a woman became pregnant through being raped?

ErrolTheDragon · 24/12/2022 21:44

So he thinks women who want control over their own bodies are on a par with men who want control over women's bodies?Hmm

Dogsogdog · 24/12/2022 21:59

Don’t give him any attention

I came to make a comment along the same lines, but you've put it better than I would have done, Errol.

OlleOskiFelle · 24/12/2022 22:23

Oh he can get in the bin.
I've willingly aborted a child and have no shame and no regrets.

TastefulRainbowUnicorn · 24/12/2022 22:23

He pays lip service to the idea that rape is wrong, but I don’t think he’d be able to explain why it’s wrong.

FOJN · 24/12/2022 22:23

He's trolling and loving the fall out. The tweet has had over 3 million views, a good days work for his political party. He finished the day with night night child murderers so he's best ignore.

Soubriquet · 24/12/2022 22:28

Sometimes I just want to close the internet forever with a what the fuck?!

This is one of those times

Thelnebriati · 24/12/2022 22:45

Its all just a game to men, they are enjoying themselves. They don't see that pleasure as a moral failing.
I suspect they may be coming for abortion rights now.

PomegranateOfPersephone · 24/12/2022 23:02

Is Lawrence Fox religious? Why is he saying this? What is his motivation?

PomegranateOfPersephone · 24/12/2022 23:05

I think posters who say ignore him have the right idea. I’m not giving it any more thought. Clearly attention seeking.

MrNorrell · 24/12/2022 23:13

I doubt Lawrence Fox would care if they were giving away a free abortion with every Happy Meal. It's just an excuse for pseudo intellectual masturbation.

WhereYouLeftIt · 24/12/2022 23:13

Dogsogdog · 24/12/2022 21:59

Yep, he's clearly saying something incendiary for the reaction. Wasn't his last ploy forming Pride flags into a swastika or something? Total tosspot. I guess it must be hard to be the loser in a family of successes.

He’s a massive misogynist. He seems to have developed a visceral hatred of women and a keen sense of his own victimhood shortly after his divorce.

Ahh, makes sense.

SiobhanSharpe · 24/12/2022 23:22

Wasn't he married to Billie Piper several years ago?
They've been divorced for years too. Or has he been divorced again?

IwantToRetire · 24/12/2022 23:23

I agree about not giving him attention, but it is one of those situations where the very worst type of male turns out to be gender critical. He doesn't believe TWAW.

Actually the worst type of male whatever there other politics are the one who say TWAW.

What a pathetic little man.

Boiledbeetle · 24/12/2022 23:35

Well isn't he a delightful man.

I wonder how the figures on abortions break down, as in how many are because of rape, coercive control, men denying their partners use of contraception, general shitty domestic abuse.

Hawkins001 · 24/12/2022 23:49

Omg

He's saying it to get a reaction and because he's a right wing prick.

Hoardasurass · 25/12/2022 00:03

I wonder what he would class women like myself who had a miscarriage and "retained material" who was given the abortion tablets (which didn't work) and then a DNC and as such my medical records state that I have had two abortions(never having chosen to end a pregnancy) and 1 and a partial miscarriage (lost 1 twin the other survived) as? I ask this as someone who would personally never have an abortion unless my life was at risk (due to my ds and his ongoing care needs (his dad being dead)) but believe that it's each individual woman's decision about what is right for her ie anytime any reason, because under his rules I should be dead or in jail! I had no choice my baby was dead and I could die from sepsis or take the tablets/have the procedure.
This is the thing that worries me the most about this "debate" they refuse to acknowledge the fact that most (if I remember correctly 76% of abortions (ONS statistics) are medically necessary ie women who will die without one vs the 24% who choose to have 1 (many of which are for fetal abnormalities, the rest because the woman deems it nesscary (which I agree wholeheartedly with)), the so called "pro-life" cohort refused to acknowledge that most women are in a life or death position where the baby is dead or has zero chance of survival and its the women's life that hangs in the balance.
The question should be should women have the right to choose not to die a horrible and painful death or should we be allowed a medically necessary procedure (with some women choosing not to carry a pregnancy to term due to personal reasons or incompatibility with life ie who's life means more a group of cells that may be dead or uncompatical with life outside of the womb or the woman/potential mother?

ErrolTheDragon · 25/12/2022 00:09

He may not believe TWAW (probably along with the vast majority of men) but that does not make him gender critical. Has he said anything that implies he doesn't approve of gender stereotypes? - he evidently doesn't think women have more right to control their own bodies than a man does.
Don't confuse two entirely different things please.
