The ACLU delightedly claims victory as Second Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a student athletic policy in Connecticut allowing transgender students to play on the teams consistent with their gender identity.

Trans youth have a right to equal and fair play.

Shame the same can't be said for the girls and women's rights to equal and fair play.
Transyouth already had equal and fair play by being allowed, despite their trans status, to play on the team that matched their actual sex not their in their head feely sex.

Why do those in positions of power refuse to see this?

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 17/12/2022 09:58

Fair pay, as well as fair play. Especially in the US where so many scholarships are sport related.

Interesting that the ACLU tweets use 'our', as in 'our sports', so making them sound as if they were written by a 'trans youth' person, as the ACLU would have it.

This is what total capture looks like.

It just sends out the message that women's sport is just a pastime and not a serious concern

Clymene · 17/12/2022 10:59

So many girls and women are losing out on education through men dominating women's sports.

I can't believe I just typed that sentence.

Truthlikeness · 17/12/2022 11:01

This is massively depressing but it's already the reality in many cases. I play a contact team sport in the UK as a female adult, and there are no leagues where I can be guaranteed not to face a male-bodied person. When I raised concerns about this I was removed from the league.

NecessaryScene · 17/12/2022 11:18

Did the judgment explain what the female division is for? ACLU don't seem to have considered that.

ZeldaFighter · 17/12/2022 11:57

The replies to ACLU's tweet are generally not supportive- that's the only good thing

Helleofabore · 17/12/2022 14:08

The situation in the USA is really patchy. This just reinforces the inconsistencies.

PermanentTemporary · 17/12/2022 14:34

Interesting. I googled a bit to read at least some of the judgement. The plaintiffs aren't at educational institutions any more so the court said they cant be said to be suffering as a result of the policy; and they sometimes won, so the court says they can't have been deprived of fair competition.

Sounds rather like 'well that woman got a top job so sexism can't exist any more.'

ADF which brought the case is of course a horrible organisation that is much more interested in the publicity around a case than achieving anything in terms of legal protection.

PermanentTemporary · 17/12/2022 14:39

I do hate the increasing use of 'transgender females' to mean boys. The phrase would suggest women who've transitioned to live as men to me. Which is if course why it's being popularised.

Brokendaughter · 17/12/2022 14:58

They got that wrong, what it should say is Womens sports Abolished in the US"

When men can play (because they are always going to remain men, who will never be & cannot ever become women or female) then it isn't 'womens' anything.

There is no such thing as transyouth, just sad children with unaddressed issues making life destroying mistakes.

Abccde · 17/12/2022 17:51

Does ALCU only represent trans people now?

I thought it was about Civil Liberties.

Yeah, it’s dominated by the trans issue now (Google “Chase Strangio”). So you have the bizarre spectacle, for example, of the ACLU bringing legal actions to stop prisons releasing data on how many transwomen are in female prisons and to keep this data secret and from entering the public realm!

So much for civil liberties and freedom of information. As soon as gender ideology comes into the picture, all that flies out of the window in case poor feelings are hurt.

This is fucking disgusting and so depressing
