Another forgotten woman artist re-discovered

Since there is still no art forum here (nor, for that matter, a forum for tech, science, history, or many other basic topics), I'll post this here, in case anyone is interested.

I really like the self-portrait.

For Centuries, Her Art Was Forgotten, or Credited to Men. No More.
The work of Michaelina Wautier, a 17th-century artist, was long overlooked. She is belatedly gaining recognition as an old master.
By Milton Esterow

“If she was not a woman, her works would have been considered in the same breath as art made by the great male contemporaries of the 17th century, such as Peter Paul Rubens and Anthony van Dyck,” Van der Stighelen said.

Thanks!
Btw there is a history board
https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/history_club

There used to be a science board, but I don't think it got used much and so was culled. There is a science chat thread (not just for academics) at the moment

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/academics_corner/4693773-in-mice-science-chat

And the 'book of the month' club gets used for other book-related threads

According to Wikipedia, there's another self portrait in her large painting The Triumph of Bacchus: "The artist depicted herself in the colourful crowd; she is the only character to look at the viewer". en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michaelina_Wautier#Works
