Adult Human Female documentary not being released?

MsDemeanors · 30/11/2022 08:55

Thanks to one of the brilliant beings on these threads I found out about the documentary Adult Human Female. Signed up to Vimeo and pre-ordered it. Message this morning saying the creator has decided not to publish it at this time. Am desperately hoping that's because it will get released by a mainstream broadcaster in the near future. Does anyone know anything?

While I am here, would like to say that it's the MN Feminism boards that are stopping me falling into a pit of despair. Find solace in the number of hugely intelligent, well-informed, passionate and courageous women on here. Thank you all.

This tweet suggests that they're making it available on their website. I hope that's true.

It's this one:

I don't know why they're not putting it on Vimeo, though - I hope they weren't cancelled.

Thanks for the link, brilliant documentary. 🍿 Have shared with friends and family. 👍🏼

It's just brilliant. I've made a donation too.

I'm in Scotland so this is upfront and personal for me. I can't believe what's going on.

I couldn't make the screening - it says the video is private? Is it possible to see it?

NancyDrawed · 04/12/2022 08:38

WarriorN The adulthumanfemale.info/ link in the post you quoted above worked for me to be able to watch it.

Great film. I hope people who are just waking up to this watch it - I know people thought I was mad when I tried to raise the issues a few years back as they hadn't seen anything in The Guardian any media they read/watched/listened to.

RogersOrganismicProcess · 04/12/2022 10:12

Thanks for the link, it was an informative watch. I think it got across the idea that valid concern and transphobia are too very different things; and the notion that open and frank discussion may yield the best outcomes for all involved. The idea of ‘no debate’ is where the real problem rests, as it just causes further oppression and risk.

The link which doesn't now work is to a live Q&A with the filmmakers which took place on Thursday evening. The text link above it (adult human female film) works.

It's very weird how 5 minutes into AHF my computer switches off completely- any thoughts how to watch this film.

Bosky · 10/12/2022 05:01

A lot of people have complained that the film "buffers" a lot at the beginning but that the problem resolves after a short while. That is the first time I have heard of it actually crashing a computer. I would contact them and let them know there is a problem. Maybe they can sort it out and re-upload it?

GCMM · 10/12/2022 19:38

I just watched it and thought it was very good. It has a very powerful ending.

Isn't that the film that a lot of women are boycotting as it is a direct rip off of PP's work (and logo) added to which many of the women asked to speak are those who have publicly criticised PP / SfW.

And once WPUK found out how angry it has made a lot of RF / GC women, because of the total snub to PP / SfW, they went all out on a publicity drive including hosting the premiere.

I was pretty shocked by the attitude of the film makers and participants, but the way in which WPUK responded was a real eye opener.

IwantToRetire - "it is a direct rip off of PP's work (and logo) added to which many of the women asked to speak are those who have publicly criticised PP / SfW."

Karma rather bit them in the bum as the protests in Nottingham, that led to the screening being cancelled, were due to TRAs thinking that it was a KJK production 😂

"And once WPUK found out how angry it has made a lot of RF / GC women, because of the total snub to PP / SfW, they went all out on a publicity drive including hosting the premiere."

and acting as "distributor" for all the Regional Screenings.

"I was pretty shocked by the attitude of the film makers and participants, but the way in which WPUK responded was a real eye opener".

They trash their own credibility as a serious political force again and again with their petty spite, deranged attacks on KJK and hanging out with the US Witch Finders in the AGCL Facebook Group.

It would not surprise me if sensible women on the left cut loose and set up a new organisation - or maybe if Labour Women's Declaration overtook them as a "GC voice" within the Labour Party.

The "women of WPUK" have alienated a LOT of women this year.

IwantToRetire · 12/12/2022 20:57

It's noticeable on their facebook page that comments etc., are much fewer than before.

What a shame that they couldn't just stick to their campaigning function.

Because that was sucessful they then felt they were able to comment and control other women's political issues.

Worth a watch and a share.
