Thank you so much for the share tokens, @mcduffy.

I'll have a read of the articles this morning.

SallyLockheart · 06/11/2022 07:36

Very interesting. Sturgeon doesn’t listened to others so this backlash seems to have come as quite a surprise to her.

mcduffy · 06/11/2022 08:30

Dictatorships are unsustainable!

Thanks OP. Glad it’s not all plain sailing for the SNP. Also I didn’t know this was happening this week…

This week, in a judicial review raised by For Women Scotland, whether obtaining a gender recognition certificate means that one’s protected characteristic of “sex” is also changed will be tested.

Shiraztonight · 06/11/2022 09:09

The Times have been v good on covering GRA and other women's rights topics, its the main reason that I subscribe to them

zanahoria · 06/11/2022 09:19

"Some Greens want to extend the right to change gender to children as young as 12."

twelve?

Bonkers

rogdmum · 06/11/2022 09:47

zanahoria

Bonkers, but also what the Children’s Commissioner, Bruce Adamson, was advocating back in 2018- without the need for parental permission. He appears to have pulled back on it now, but if the Greens get all vocal about it, what will his position be?

Indeed - thanks for your other thread about that, Signalbox: www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/4671123-for-women-scotland-judicial-review-2

I’m a Times subscriber. The overwhelming majority of comments under trans articles are gender critical, and the odd troll gets their um… “posterior manually returned to them” as the Times might phrase it. Grin

Igneococcus · 07/11/2022 07:03

More articles in the Times today, putting them here to have them all together.

"Schools ‘safer than home’ for pupils to explore gender, says Glasgow trans councillor" (Yeah, right 🙁):

And comment by Kezia Dugdale:

Thanks @Igneococcus
Whilst that dugdale article is very disingenuous about the process and results of the public consultation I must applaud her for being completely open about the fact that this entire shit storm is due to Stonewall/Stonewall Scotland and their cosy relationship with the party leaders in Scotland

Disappointed that the Times used female pronouns for the sex offender in the first article Sad
