I'm putting them all here, since they are all linked. There are quite a few, better make some tea first:

I am off to make the tea

Hoardasurass · 30/10/2022 08:42

Oh dear its a black day for Nichola and good day for GC women as the Times, Telegraph and mail on line are really sinking there teeth into this and connecting all the dots for everyone.
Add to this the front page of the Telegraph today say RS is going after the woke police I suspect that this (insert baned word) of (insert baned word) is finally being shown for exactly what it is

JanieAllen · 30/10/2022 09:08

The hiding of identiy via name or gender change has alarmed me for some time.

ResisterRex · 30/10/2022 09:12

The comments are turned off of the name change article. In it, it's said that MAPPA arrangements are a safeguard. But under the GRA, you can face an unlimited fine for disclosure so how does that work? Do they disclose to partners in a multi-agency meeting which is about protecting the public or not?

I agree it looks like the Times, Mail and Telegraph are going for this topic. And given the rebellions so far and fact the gender changes don't work with the rest of the UK, it seems like a strange hill to die on.

JanieAllen · 30/10/2022 09:19

Times seems to have removed my comment about how the Scottish NHS cannot afford to have lots of trans moving here with chonic health issues brought on by taking the wrong kind of hormones. Dementia, Osteoporsis, heart conditions and most appalling increased multiple sclerosis when we are ALREADY the highest incidence of MS in the world.

334bu · 30/10/2022 09:23

MS?

Whereareyourshoes · 30/10/2022 09:23

Thank you for sharing these links. Time for coffee!

334bu · 30/10/2022 09:25

Sorry, haven't seen any links to MS being a side effect of cross sex hormones. Do you have links?

zanahoria · 30/10/2022 09:55

I object to the authoritarian lunacy that Sturgeon is creating being described as liberal. It is anything but, the SNP are stamping on debate and laughing at science in order to destroy women's rights

lanadelgrey · 30/10/2022 10:00

MS not linked to cross sex hormones but for still unexplained reasons - possibly lower sunlight or vitamin D deficiency or due to genetic factors - Scotland has higher prevalence of MS than elsewhere in UK.

zanahoria · 30/10/2022 10:05

This shows what is happening in 'liberal scotland'.

Did anyone notice this paragraph in the one about trans people moving to "liberal" Scotland?

'Mat Wilkie, a 31-year-old trans man living in Glasgow, said that the reformed bill would mean he could marry the woman he loved with his correct gender on the marriage certificate. “All we’re trying to do here is make it more straightforward to change our documents. This will just legally recognise me for who I am,” Wilkie said. The changes would not, he claimed, mean being able to go into changing rooms and lavatories, a right that he said trans people have had since the Equality Act was passed.'

It's quite untrue to say that trans people have had the right to go into opposite-sex changing rooms and lavatories since the Equality Act. The reporter shouldn't have written that.

It's idiotic, anyway, because there is nothing to stop Mat Wilkie, 31, from gaining a GRC under the current rules and marrying their girlfriend.

Bosky · 31/10/2022 02:44

"there is nothing to stop Mat Wilkie, 31, from gaining a GRC under the current rules and marrying their girlfriend."

Two doctors need to diagnose Gender Dysphoria. Maybe Mat doesn't have gender dysphoria?

More of an issue where males are concerned. As someone highlighted on another thread:

"The SNP’s Bill is flawed: why be so relaxed about men who don’t suffer from gender dysphoria being allowed to change their legal gender? If they don’t suffer from gender dysphoria, what is their motivation for changing gender? Shouldn’t we know?"

Scottish Labour is now a branch office of Stonewall. It won't defend its £1 million donor JK Rowling

Igneococcus · 31/10/2022 06:31

This is in today's Times. I put it here rather than making a new thread for it. Comment by Fiona Rintoul. Rintoul usually uses anything to make an argument for independence and to tell everyone how great NS and the SNP are but interestingly not when it comes to the GRA reform:

Do marriage certificates in Scotland have 'gender' on the marriage certificate? They don't in England and Wales. He could campaign for this to be dropped in Scotland as well if they do have gender (or sex) on the certificates there. Or just hop over the border to get married.

JanieAllen · 31/10/2022 09:53

GRA was orginally brought in to prevent men marrying men or god forbid women marrying women it was a homophobic piece of Tory legislation to prevent same sex marriage. Anyone can marry anyone now... the entire NEED for GRA is BOLLOCKS.
