Given recent events, thought this might be of use. Feel free to add other resources.

Your rights if arrested:

In Scotland:

www.citizensadvice.org.uk/scotland/law-and-courts/legal-system-s/police-s/if-you-are-arrested-and-held-in-custody-by-the-police-in-scotland/

Arrested at a protest? Your rights:

www.libertyhumanrights.org.uk/advice_information/what-if-im-arrested-at-a-protest/

Organisations that may be able to help:

sex-matters.org/

www.faircop.org.uk/contact/

freespeechunion.org/

It might be useful to carry a printout/ card with details of a knowledgeable gc lawyer? If anyone can suggest suitable people, who are okay to be added, please do so!

Alternative help might be found at:

The Bad Law Project www.badlawproject.com/ run by Harry Miller and Sarah Phillimore.

I am not so sure about the foreword by Lawrence Fox, but hey, we are all entitled to free speech as long as we stay within the law. They supported Jennifer Swayne, the Welsh sticker lady against the Gwent police, and are now supporting Amy Gallagher who is taking on the Tavi, albeit on race and religion grounds.

A printout is useful but if you attend a protest, write any info you might need on yourself (such as a solicitors phone number) with a Sharpie. If you are arrested anything in your possession can be removed and you might be deprived of the card.

There was a thread recently by a woman asking for recommendations of solicitors - these resource threads do tend to duplication and the SEARCH facility often doesn't help.

Here is the link to that other thread:

Fab, thanks Abitofalark. That's perfect.

And good tip, Inebriati.
