I noticed there wasn’t a thread on Filia. This is my first time here and it is quite simply the best conference I have ever been to.

The sessions are mindblowing. Nazanin Zaghari Ratcliffe yesterday. Julie Bindell, Maya F, Rosie Duffield, Sharron Davies etc etc etc this morning. So many amazing wonder women. May this revolution grow.

Agreed! It is also my first FiLiA and I have been blown away by the speakers. The party last night was great too, what a brilliant atmosphere.

Sadly not there, but following on Twitter. The speakers, atmosphere and general camaraderie are fantastic!!

I'm glad I'm a Friend of FiLiA!

Have to say I'm finding so many people and all the clapping a bit too much. Not used to people en masse any more.

Smilelesstalkmore · 23/10/2022 16:24

Oh, I didn't realise it was this weekend, I haven't seen anything about it!

Smilelesstalkmore · 23/10/2022 16:30

Just catching up now on Twitter, it looks fantastic!

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 23/10/2022 16:40

It is indeed a wonderful event and I am loving it, though exhausted already!

SapphosRock · 23/10/2022 16:53

Everything has been so good. The session on lesbian spaces yesterday with Sister Outrider and Naomi Cunningham was excellent.

Nazanin Zagari Radcliffe was incredible, she is such a strong woman and hearing her speak was very moving.

So many opportunities to meet wonderful, inspiring women.

Already looking forward to next year.

KatMcBundleFace · 23/10/2022 23:22

Yesterday was incredibly moving. Solidarity with women all over the world.

BingBongSong · 23/10/2022 23:33

I cried a few times yesterday, watching what is happening to young girls in Iran, stories of domestic violence and the horrible realities of surrogacy.

I was completely inspired by Nazanin Zaghari Ratcliffe.

Today I laughed and raged at the session on Misogyny (Lucy Masoud and Julie Bindel are very funny), and was pleased to hear what Vancouver Rape Relief are doing with my monthly donation. Loved the panel on Defending Women's Sports. Sweary Martina too 👍.

Really hoping I can go next year and I'm going to become a Friend of Filia when I get home!

pattihews · 24/10/2022 22:24

I'm just back from Filia and like everyone else, blown away by the last three amazing days learning from women from around the world. There was a lot of networking and discussion and women talking and sharing formally and informally. And a fabulous disco on Saturday night.

It's being held in Glasgow next year and I'm already planning my trip. Go if you can. It's life-changing.

KatMcBundleFace · 24/10/2022 22:58

I only went for the day, but it really was special. The party was great too.
So many wonderful women.

Feministwoman · 25/10/2022 13:06

I'm heading home from FiLiA now, already booked my accommodation for FiLiA 2023.

Do go, if you can, it is utterly fabulous and so inspiring.
And yes, another Friend of FiLiA, here 😊

purpleboy · 25/10/2022 16:32

What an amazing weekend. Would love to hear everyone's favorite moment of the weekend.
I think mine was the singer on Saturday morning, when everyone stood up and started clapping along, felt like such a moment of solidarity and so uplifting like together we could do anything 💜💚🤍

christinarossetti39 · 25/10/2022 16:46

It was, as ever, an astounding event. I loved seeing how many more younger women were there, not just teens with their mum, but small groups of women coming along.

BingBongSong · 25/10/2022 21:00

Too many favourite moments!

Possibly hearing Hilla Kerner from VRR because it was so uplifting to hear what they've been able to achieve with the flood of small donations like mine.

Most powerful was hearing Maryam Namazie on Day 1 describing what is happening to those poor young girls in Iran.

Dd got a selfie with Julie Bindel too👍.

Whatthechicken · 25/10/2022 21:09

Loved listening to Hilla - she has so much humanity. Also, Marie-Lyse - “oh, for Heavens sake” - so much common sense.

BingBongSong · 04/11/2022 21:42

Some videos available on YouTube now.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 06/11/2022 17:54

That's fantastic, the Misogyny session particularly! Great speeches from a panel of brilliant women.
