I hope its a free vote but I doubt that the great leader will allow it as it would seem that even hard loyal MSPs are beginning to wake up to the destructive force of the upcoming scandal

Hoardasurass · 22/10/2022 23:35

Her not hard

ErrolTheDragon · 22/10/2022 23:41

So they're not going to be allowed to vote so as to best represent their constituents?

We hope that the concerns of all their constituents would matter, as many, many people, especially women have informed their MSPs that our concerns are valid & well founded. Unfortunately I think democracy under the SNP/ Greens is dead in Scotland.
Sturgeon, Chapman, Harvie, Adam et all will not let this go so we have to keep pushing back.
Please write to your MSPs & MPs because , if it passes up here, will be on your doorsteps too very soon.

That's pretty much the norm on most votes, though. Not that it is a good thing, but it's standard.

They never do that. It's Party or conscience or personal gain. Never their constituents.

"Not minded" to allow a free vote. If she knew it'd get through I bet she would.

TWO CHANCES

BlackForestCake · 23/10/2022 09:01

Sturgeon will blow up independence rather than drop this. I don't understand why she is so obsessed but that's the conclusion from her behaviour over the last 8 years.

ArabellaScott · 23/10/2022 09:14

Quite a lot of people would suggest Sturgeon isn't actually interested in independence, BlackForest. Only in holding onto power.

The Scottish situation is perfect for someone with authoritarian tendencies like Sturgeron. I guess this is the danger where there is no real opposition. Sturgeron knows that she can do as she pleases and people will still vote SNP. I guess people think that these laws (self ID, hate crimes) will be easily undone once Scotland is independent.

Signalbox · 23/10/2022 09:23

Hopefully once they’ve voted this in there will be legal challenges. 🤞

I wrote last week. It took me around twenty minutes to read over FWS' responses and write something of my own.

If you're happy to use a form letter, it'd be much quicker - there are four to choose from:

  • Single sex spaces,
  • children,
  • cross-border issues (for that reason, I think letters from women in the rest of the UK may be relevant, although MSPs won't be obliged to respond),
  • and sex/gender in the Equality Act.
