Doctors outraged at NHS trust’s two-hour lesson on ‘gender unicorns’

"NHS doctors are being taught about “gender unicorns” and “genderf---” identities, leaked training has revealed.

... delivered by the Devon Partnership NHS Trust to another trust and leaked to The Telegraph.

The two-hour session displayed a diagram of a “gender unicorn” with sliding scales of male, female and other identities, alongside spectrums of gender expression, sex assigned at birth and physical and emotional attraction.
Later in the class, medics were shown 11 examples of gender expressions, including non-binary, agender, neutrois, demigender, polygender, androgyne and femme-butch.

Attendees were left in visible disbelief when the NHS gender clinic worker leading the session introduced another identity – “genderf-” – which they explained was “when people don’t give a f- about gender”...

Another PowerPoint slide on terminology mentioned “Terf” – trans-exclusionary radical feminist, considered a slur for those critical of trans activism – with the authors JK Rowling and Germaine Greer mentioned by the trainer as examples of this."

What will it be next, 2 hour conferences on religion with "hellf---" for atheists?

Shocking this damaging pushing of stereotypes in still escalating in certain areas, especially when it's the nhs.

Datun · 22/10/2022 19:56

Doctors were told about “kinks” in another slide setting out the “LGBTQ umbrella”, with BDSM also mentioned as a community linked closely to trans.

Another slide urged medics to “affirm” gender identities in order to get the trust of transgender service users.

Affirm made up, kids' gender identities (ransgender service users), so you can gain their trust when you subsequently tell them it's all about BDSM and kink.

fucking hell.

ThereIbledit · 22/10/2022 19:59

I know I'm missing the point by a country mile but what the fuck is femme-butch when they/them/zee/zir is at home? Butch lesbians I understand, but if you're a lesbian who is butch you're not going for feminine, surely?

Rightsraptor · 22/10/2022 20:10

At least this preposterous talk wasn't well received and, as one of the attendees says, their EDI steering group has 50% gender critical people.

That is very encouraging. Doctors are trained to be critical thinkers, I'm glad we know some of them are.

Signalbox · 22/10/2022 20:17

This is hopeful. Sounds like people are getting more and more confident in pushing back against this nonsense and actually organising to prevent harm.

“The EDI officer at our trust is very shrewd, really shrewd and they have made sure that the trans guidance group is about 50 per cent gender critical,” the medic added."

FOJN · 22/10/2022 20:19

At a time when there is neither enough staff or money for the NHS there are also trust executives who think it's OK to waste public money paying for these training sessions and the time for staff to attend them. Imagine there are 20 staff per 2 hour training session; that's 40 paid hours of clinical/work time lost to gender bollocks.

The same trust that allows male sex offenders on female wards:

Devon Partnership NHS Trust says that patients “will be admitted based on the gender which they identify as at the point of admission” and it will not be based on physical characteristics or the person proving they have legally changed their gender or name, as they claim this is illegal.

It states that risk assessments must be carried out but indicate that this does not prevent male-born sex offenders being placed on a female-only ward.

“Where a transgender woman is admitted and has a history of sex offending, decisions regarding risk should include consideration of whether they are being prescribed anti-libidinal medication that would be expected to reduce sexual risk,” the document states.

Devon guidance also states: “Transgender people must be able to use the facilities of their preferred gender while admitted. This includes shower rooms, toilets and single sex lounges.”

Do you think anyone actually looks over the training materials before they are used? Can you imagine someone organising a session for doctors and thinking ‘ah yes let’s get the unicorn graphic out’ that’ll work.

BrokenFridgeDrawer · 22/10/2022 20:48

The more you think about it, the more you realise how appropriate the Unicorn is.

WHY?
Why MUST transgender people be able to use the facilities of their preferred gender rather than the correct fecilities for their sex?

It really, really pisses me off that someone or some group has decided this and not considered the impact on women being forced to share with men and vice versa.

“It seemed that they were almost an apostate for the trans movement and they were very proud of the fact they had 3,800 people on the [gender clinic] waiting list,” the NHS staff member, who wished to remain anonymous, told The Telegraph.

Apostle? Acolyte?

Whatsnewpussyhat · 22/10/2022 21:40

However, the training met a defiant response, with one medic in attendance saying it “opened my eyes to how ridiculous this whole thing is” and suggested “capture” by activists

The more people hear the batshit the more they think WTAF.

For those unfamiliar with the delightful gender unicorn. Imagine being a doctor who studied at medical for 7 years being presented with this!

And if that fails, copying and pasting the link address into an archive site like archive.today or the Wayback Machine usually works. If the webpage hasn't already been archived it is really easy to do it yourself so that you (and others later) can access it.

Maybe there should be training on

a) not mutilating girls
b) not giving children life changing drugs
c) using budgets responsibly

FFS!

MrsOvertonsWindow · 22/10/2022 22:28

This is why we've got so many children thinking they've been born in the wrong body and demanding drugs and surgery to get fixed.
Shameful - the chief executive of that NHS trust needs sacking for funding such nonsense to be taught to staff.

Blister · 22/10/2022 22:32

The self-confessed not-medically-trained have gone to train the medically-trained about a situation which in court needs medical expertise.

I want to watch this one unfold...

What are the medics going to say when they are sued by someone who had their healthy breast tissue removed? The unicorn made me do it?

Yes I wondered if that was predictive text or typo or if the medic or the Telegraph writer didn't know the difference between an apostle and apostate.

Abitofalark · 22/10/2022 23:58

There was a defiant response, it says, but where is the defiance - I mean, someone said something - is that it? There's nothing to indicate that it caused what would be understandable uproar at being served up such utter rubbish or the doctors to walk out in protest. They must be a faiely passive or apathetic lot.
