There used be a clothing shop called Oli London. Sort of like Asos. I hoped it would be about that.

He started out as a mega fan, using himself as an homage to Korean beauty.

He got a bit obsessive about it- not unusual with body mods. I'd say he started to get unwell round about then.

The whole 'I identify as Korean' thing was an offensive add on.

By the time he started the 'woman', I think he was messing about. Perhaps recovering from his previous mental health problems.

To be fair, we all do things for attention and money.
Having a survival instinct isn't wrong.

Damaging yourself in order to survive or come to terms with yourself, is the extreme here.

Whatever ollie london's motivations were, I would like to know :

Was he able to use women's changing rooms or loos with impunity whilst identifying as a woman?

Was he able to take a place on a woman's sports team? In a woman's hospital ward? Refuge?

And then revert to being a man?

THIS is what we bloody well mean!!! Whether he was taking the piss or not, our facilities would have been handed to him on a plate!! All we want is a process by which to prevent this shit show from happening.....

Yes, exactly. If "being Korean" meant living a life like Korean people do, he would move to South Korea, learn the language, get a job, take part in society as much as he could. But he doesn't want to "be Korean" he wants to look Korean. All he cares about is the image; the image is everything. It's just the same with transwomen - there's fuck all TW who are transitioning in middle age and taking on the role of looking after elderly parents, suddenly reducing their working hours to fit in school runs, doing all the mental load of the household. All their efforts in "being a woman" are centred around clothes, make-up, handbags, massive fake tits. Again, image is everything. It's such a stupendously superficial outlook. I look, therefore I am.

The very definition of appropriation. Cherry picking the best bits and leaving the shit and toil for those actually living the reality.

GeriSignfeld · 18/10/2022 10:42

Well Ollie London just tweeted:
"Keep Womens Only Spaces for WOMEN!
I lived as a trans woman for the past 6 months before my Detransition yet despite my identity I fully respected Womens Only Spaces and would also use mens changing rooms/rest rooms.
WOMEN should always feel safe!"

Is it possible Ollie reads Mumsnet or is this a coincidence ?
😄
